graduation day

Today was graduation from beginner's obedience class for Stella and me. I was a little worried about the test, because for the graduation exercises, you cannot have treats in the ring. This girl is right-on when treats are involved, but without, she has good days and some where she is a little distracted (that is, maybe she would prefer to chase a blowing leaf in the yard rather than come when called).

Well, score one for the doodle! She was GREAT tonight and the instructors ranked her as the top of the class! See us showing off her blue ribbon below. Smart gal!

I am so proud of her. I adopted her when she was 5 months old, and she came to me covered in fleas, a little timid, without a collar, and had never even been on a leash before. She is so quick to learn and wants to please--she has come a long way! Did I mention how proud I am of her?

BTW, just to "keep it real," when we got home and I was busy telling my DH all about our graduation, Stella did take that opportunity to sneak into the kitchen and take some ground beef packaging out of the trash. See, I told you she was smart!

And she is smart. She did everything you asked her to do in class but you didn't give her her treat so she went and got her own!!! hahaha
