Leila leaves me on Thursday to go to her new home. I am very happy for her but I am very sad for me. In the last 2 months I have come to love that fur ball. (Ok I admit I loved her within the first 5 min) She is going to a home in Philly so I will not get to see her again most likely but that is probably for the best. I don't know how some of you foster dogs all the time. I found out yesterday she was leaving on Thurs and I made her cuddle with me on the couch all night last night and will cuddle her til Thurs when she leaves (she didn't mind the cuddles one bit). I am going to Petsmart today to get her tag with her new name and phone number. Plus I need to get her some more food and some presents. I hope she is good for her new family!!! (I am sure she will be).

Oh gosh, that must be so hard! But what a great thing for Leila to have her own forever family. I hope that they are everything a little Doodle girl could ever hope for. And hopefully they will keep in touch.
Enjoy the time you two have left together. You have done such a great thing by being Leila's foster mom until her forever family found her. |

Aw Heather. I couldn't do what you did. I'd keep them all! You're a good woman!

I admire and respect you, Heather--and all the others like you--that do these wonderful things for doggies in need. I could not do it; none of my fosters would ever leave SOOO, I'm so glad for people like you. And what a lucky family that is getting Leila for christmas!!!!

How hard but how wonderful for others. Thanks for being there. I too admire you for what you have done. I fostered some brand new puppies once and even bottle fed them for a bit. It was so hard to let them go. One lady hugged me and thanked me for her wonderful dog. I never saw them again but I think of them a lot. I don't know if I could do it again. I wanted to keep them all!
Good Job! PS tell them to join us here. At least then you can see pictures! |

Gee Heather....I must admit that I could not foster as you have done...you've done a wonderful job with her and are to be highly commended!!! ((((((()))))))) to you for being her foster Mom...I know it's difficult seeing her go, and I'm sure she'll miss you too, but be happy in knowing that this will be her permanent family forever!!!

((((((((((((heather)))))))))))))))))))) you've done a GREAT job honey!! yes it's bittersweet as you grow fond of your foster dog and then the day
comes that all the work and love you've given a special dog there's a family in need of your foster dog. the 1st few days and last 2 are the hardest in fostering, but deep in your heart realize had it not been for you LEILA may have not been able to shine through as she does now showing what a sweet loving dog she is and getting another chance at a forever home she deserves. I admire you Heather and all others that foster animals that need your patience, humor, training and love. Heather, i am proud of and happy Leila found her new forever home.
