We have a huge mess here...we are just at the rain snow line so we have about one inch of snow and then some ice and then some slush. I hear just north of here is a ton of snow. One of my biggest pet peeves about NJ is that NOBODY knows how to drive in messy weather.

You know that is the problem in the CA desert my brother said! I don't drive in it because as a native CA I never learned how to drive very well in the snow. NOTE: I was typing and accidently hit a t at the end of sno instead of a w and started laughing because when I have to drive that is how I feel about crummy conditions(snot)!!!

I had snow for the first 17 years of my life and I can honestly say I don't miss it, though the last lot of
snow we had was in Vancouver and that city turns into a winter wonderland with a snowfall. Just looked up the temps for Christmas Day and we are expecting around 80F, not too hot, just perfect! Christmas Festivities will be outside and the kids and doodles can run around all afternoon in the backyard, while the oldies sit around eating and sipping on nice cool beverages. All is right with the world

These last couple of days here in SC, I could have sworn I went to sleep and woke up down under...it's been high 70's for most of this week - not Christmas weather at all! We're running around in our shorts and tee shirts...but I hear it is soon to end...highs will be in the high 40's for Monday. Got one on BaBa this morning - I said it would be cool be in Australia to go to the beach on Christmas Day and swim, just like we do for the 4th of July. BaBa said " But if it's cold and they can't go to the beach, how do they celebrate the 4th of July in Australia?"

This was us at Green Island for my 50th birthday in August three years ago and the short wet suits are mainly due to the fact you are in the water for a couple of hours snorkeling.

Yes, tell Baba that you can go swimming anywhere in Queensland during July. And snorkeling on the Barrier Reef is something every person should try and do during their life, and before global warming kills off all the coral. We have nice coral reefs around Norfolk Island, but it is nowhere near as wonderful as the Barrier Reef. I holidayed at Heron Island quite a few years back and it is like every colour ever created is visible all at the same time under the water there.
Although July 4th might a special USA holiday we, with American family members and/or forum friend, will be remembering you every year so we will sort of celebrate it.
