Santa Bogie wasn't allowed to have a picture taken with Santa Claus!
We take Bogart to the mall and there sits Santa. Now recall, Bogart is allowed to be there as my Service Dog. So, we walked over to make an appointment to have his picure taken with Santa. NOT! These 2 elfie lookin' chicks said NO DOGS even if he is a Service dog. Why? His hair might get on Santa's outfit and a child night have a severe allergic reaction! Well okay. I guess I somewhat understand this. But where do you all go to get a pic w/ Santa? My husband was so ticked! Was this a bit unreasonable?? Is this standard??

Boy lindamarie, what a bunch of grinches those elves are! We took Lily to a huge mall where they have a beautiful, very elaborate Christmas display for photos with Santa. During the day it is for children but pets are welcomed on several nights, from 8 p.m. until closing. They've been doing this for years and because it is so popular they invite pets on quite a few nights now. Years ago they only had about 2 nights and the line was often several hours long. The mall is very pet friendly. We had to walk through the mall to get back to the entrance we'd come in at and on the way we stopped in at the AT&T store. Lily LOVES iPhones - she stops whatever she is doing to watch whenever an iPhone commercial comes on TV. The guys in the store thought that was a riot! Then we even stopped for a cup of cappacino. Everyone wanted to pet Lily but no one even looked twice because she was in the mall. We really had alot of fun. I'm sorry that your mall experience was so *grinchy*.

lindamarie,
The mall we went to is owned by 'Simon Malls', they have malls all over the country (and welcome pets for photos with Santa). Here is a listing of all of their malls that do photos with Santa. If one is near you, check to see if they do pet pictures and if so, take Bogart there - he will be warmly welcomed and you'll have a great photo with Santa to treasure. http://www.simon.com/promotions/details.aspx?EID=89584

My opinion may not be popular, but I don't think it's unreasonable for the mall to say no to the photo of Bogie with Santa. Santa probably signed on to take photos with humans only. Just my (probably unpopular) opinion

Gosh, I think you are lucky being able to take your dogs to malls, let alone having photos taken with Santa. Australia is not such a dog tolerant society. You can't take them into any shops or cafes there (except a rare few which are usually beachfront dog friendly places), nor onto public transport. We were amazed during our visit to NY last year to see dogs on planes, trains and in the city. And the year before that I saw a lady pushing a stroller containing a maltese-type fluff ball through a mall in LA.
