Well my southern hemisphere friends, how about turning on you fans and pointing it this way. We could use some of that hot air!!! Yesterday we had rain and the temps in the forties. Did some damage to the snow fall.
But the warmer temps did not last long. This morning the temps hovered around zero as my alarm went off. Cold, but to us Wisconsinites, not uncommon. But the 25 mph winds!!!! Now that was just down right nasty. So I figured, Marley, today our early AM walk is gonna be a quick do your duty in the back yard and let's come back in. Unfortunately, Marley had other ideas. He associates the early morning walk with doing his duty. A trip to the back yard? That is play time in his book. 5 AM? Who cares!! So we got out back and all he wanted to know where the heck is the ball?? Crouching down to the play stance. My gloved hands where in my pockets for added protection from cold, dark air. He assumed I was fishing for a ball. A loud "No ball? Whatta ya mean" bark followed. He was there to play. I surmised a wait it out until he goes, is going to take much more time than I preferred. So we headed to the the front for a walk. As I hurriedly walked, Marley like the pace, so now we where playing another game. Running. I permitted it hoping that it would keep us warm and enourage him to do what we set out to do. Worked like a charm. After a quick gloveless scoop, we sprinted back home, much to Marley's pleasure. No dilly dallying around, we had a purpose....Get the hell out of this cold. The steps to the frozen deck popped loudly as we headed up them to the door. A sound that is only heard in extreme weather. Happy to say we suffered no ill effect of the extreme wind. Marley was back in his let's play stance after breakfast. I said I had to go but not to worry. I will be home by 4:30 PM, the wind should have died down by then, and the mercury should be reading the high for the day. Heck, it could be 7 or 8 degrees by then! I will have to dig out my shorts!!!

brrrrrrrrr i'm freezing now just from reading your post
i am not going to complain about our windy cold damp weather as it was above freezing today. REMEMBER at 5am you need to leave gloves, boots, scarf by the door the NIGHT BEFORE and a tennis ball too

haha...you can tell Marley doesn't care what the temp is
Would it be adding insult to injury if I mentioned our sunny 65 deg day today and the fact I was in our yard in short sleeves?

It was that way here too. I took Cinnamon out for a REAL QUICK walk this morning, it was 1 degree. This afternoon's walk was a balmy 9. No shorts though.
Yesterday it started out around 60 at 8:30. Front came through at about 9:30, it dropped to 45 by 10:00, 38 five minutes later. The news last night said it dropped an average of 2 degrees per minute. That's going down pretty fast! |

It is hard to remember what cold feels like when you are in the middle of summer, but you gave a pretty good reminder.
Sigh, we are off to the beach for a swim again today, not that I'd rub that in while you are all freezing to death, almost.

And here I was thinking how cool our days have been this past week, only going up to 21 degrees Celsius (around 70 degrees F) due to all the rainy weather.
If Marley is like Lucee when in ball mode, she doesn't care what the weather is like outside, just throw the dam ball!!!

I'm a few hrs north of Greg and we topped out at -2 today. Windchill was around -30 and the house was cracking and groaning against it.
Ava had no more desire to be out than I did, so she did her things quickly and got back to the door prancing and bouncing for me to OPEN IT ALREADY! Sounds like tomorrow is more of the same. And to think we haven't even started winter yet!

Love your descriptive stories! Lucy could care less about the cold either. On the other hand, if it's raining...squeeze those legs together and hold it in!!!
