Yes I did say Kirby
Last night, I went and sat with him on the floor for a bit and petted him a bunch (lots of belly rubs). Then I got up and went on the couch with Dex to give him a turn. Kirby came to me and started throwing a tantrum that I was giving Dex attention...it was a bit funny. So we have a new training to work on with him. I gave him the "go lie down" command which he did obey and after being quiet for a minute I praised him and gave his little head some rubbing...so I think we'll be able to address this quickly

Sounds like he's coming along great....just a little "tweaking".

That is too funny. If I am giving Calvin any attention, Madge comes over and attacks him (playfully)- then puts her paw on my leg as if saying to him that she is the only one who gets attention in the house! It is very cute, but I let her know that Calvin is worthy of pets and belly rubs, too.

We've got alot of that going on around here. Our foster dog is pretty needy. He require alot of reassurance and affection. If I'm petting Charlie, Benson sticks his head in between us to make sure he is in on it. It gets old after awhile but I can't bring myself to leave him out.

what's funny for us is that this really just started happening. Kirby has been with us for a year an never showed anything like this before.
Dexter could not care less what we do (pet him, pet Kirby, pet nobody)...by 8 pm he usually crawls up on the den sofa and gets comfy and goes to sleep. I think he would prefer I leave him alone to sleep and not pet him

Leslie, It is interesting that you've seen so many changes in Kirby at this point. Did he have a rough life before you adopted him? I just wonder why it took a year for him to assert himself.

We were told he may have experienced some significant stress at his first home...apparently his owner's father/boyfriend would scream at him (he was never afraid of my husband, but has shown fear with older men with mustaches...hmmm). He also seemed to be totally unsocialized (I'm not sure he ever met another dog before he met Max/Peanut)...I wouldn't say he was abused or anything (who knows), but I think "rough" may be a decent description.

i'd rather keep ya thinking actually Leslie is correct it was like KIRBY was afraid to do any wrong and was taught NOT to steal socks, i'd like to know how that was accomplished. BUT he's really come out of his shell and blossoming with you and jerry and dexter.

Leslie ... You (along with Annmarie) are truly great doodle parents. Ebbe's been acting up and she's been with us since the beginning! Adolescence!
Kirby and Dexter have been two of our favorites on the forum ...definitly the best coordinated!.... I guess all we can do is cheer that Kirby is becoming one of the gang.
