Well today started off nice and cool. But like every other day this week it turned into a really hot day. So the doggie pool came out and the doodles had fun.

Poor Babies! I wish you could have come to the river with us and cooled off with Tyke!

Nice way for the Doodles to cool off! They look nice and comfy after their swim! No 'muggies' here yet...in fact in the early am and nite, it's cool enough for a sweatshirt!!! high 50's!!!

Great Pics!!!
But...uh...80 degrees is HOT???? We'd love 80 degrees here! We had a stretch of 110 + temps a week or so back...climbing up there again, I fear. And...we don't have one of those cute pools! Looks like your canine family is well cared for...and enjoyng every minute! |

ok I have a question for those that have the high temps of 100 to 115degrees F
HOW do your doodles handle it? or are they acclimated since they're raised with it? it's been so long since i lived down south i guess what i am wondering is your doodles are in mostly A/C but when they go out in over 100 temps ....how do they react?

Well, ideally, we have air conditioning or swamp coolers...but in our case, just moving here and "living" in the barn, we had nothing like that when the temps hit 115!
I spent every day with the dogs in the barn (even though we had air conditioning in the house) so that I would know that they were okay. I didn't want my dogs dealing with anyting that I couldn't...and it was miserably hot but the dogs mostly slept a lot. I kept spraying them down with the mister on the hose (myself included) and by night it would cool off enough to be okay. It also helped that they had a cool cement floor to lie on. It was a rough first week though. Now we have small window air conditioning in the barn and since we have sod, it is cooler and much less dry/dusty. Generally I think that the dogs adjust to their climate. Most people living in hot areas keep their dogs trimmed to a shorter coat and have some sort of water for them to be in. |

My girls are fine with the hot weather. They don't play as much in it but it doesn't bother them to go out. And they love a trip to the beach no matter how hot it is.
Now put them up North in the snow. OMG Maya freaks out. It's pretty funny to watch me shove a 60lb doodle out the door that doesn't want to go!!!! |

Same here Linda. Today is nice. FINALLY! The dogs do ok in the heat. They just don't play that much outside, unless i have the pool out. Cacao hates the hose but loves the pool. And Beau likes the pool but loves the hose.
