Default Remy is neutered

Yesterday, Remy had was neutered. I went to the pet store to pick up some food for him and found this adorable toy.

Here is my little guy this morning-

Oops he blinked. He has eyes see here:

He is doing well today. He cried a bit in his crate last night. I suspect that the medication was wearing off.

The vet said that he is to be kept quiet for 10-14 days. I've read the posts
about how easy that is .
They also said that he should be quiet for today but the remaining days are all up to me. Well he wants to know why we can't go out and play this morning.

The vet didn't say anything about him not licking the site and didn't suggest a collar. For those of you who have had this done, is this normal or should I check back with the vet? They used dissolvable sutures and the inscision is very small. It looks like its healing fine so far.

Awww Remy...you'll be fine in a few days...hang in there Sweetie..,.
When Raleigh had this done, the vet gave him a collar which was kept on him for 7 days...I've seen numerous posts on this subject...some vets use them, some don't....I wouldn't worry too much Diane, unless he starts licking excessively...then I would contact your vet..you don't need any infections, or for the sutures to open up! Good luck!

Hi Kathie,
Thanks for the information. I think he's missing his weekend bath. He grabbed a towel from the laundry pile and is playing with it like we do when he has his bath. He'll have to wait awhile before he can have his next bath.

wow, our dogs both came home the same day, and we were only supposed to restrict their activity for 5-7 days. neither of them needed the collar -- for the first day or so we just watched carefully and stopped them from licking, and they pretty much didn't try after that. ursus was just neutered a week ago thursday, and already looks almost completely healed!

Dexter had all the dissolving stitches too - he was really acting like normal in ~3-4 days. Kirby had to have 2 actual stitches...we tried to keep him quiet, but 4 days later it became impossible. Neither needed a collar - we just kept an eye on them.

Brodie didn't need a collar either. He did just fine, no licking at all
The hard part was keeping him calm. He is such an active boy and he just didn't understand why he couldn't run and play

We get home from vet and and I swear I couldn't tell that his little balls were gone So, I call the vet and I say" It looks like Brodie still has testicles, what the heck is going on?" She tells me it is swelling and the sack will eventually shrink to nothing Boy did I feel stupid!

I thought the same thing about Denver, just did not make the call to the vet, having remembered that all my male cats first looked like the
vet forgot to remove their little parts as well..............

Oh yes. As you probably are all aware if anything can go wrong it when the vets office is closed. he was a good boy Friday and all day saturday but starting sunday morning he was obsessed with the lickylicky.

So I tried to stop him but.......
Monday morning we got to the vets at the opening bell and he came home with .... THE CONE.

Actually the cone should be called the Halo. He can't get into things he shouldn't. Well that is until he learns how to manuver around it...
