Default New changes in Kirby :)

So Kirby seems to have reached a new level of being comfortable - he is making a habit of joining us in bed for a short snuggle. The other night he came right up from the start of the night and slept at the foot of the bed most of the night haha...luckily Dexter is pretty easy going with it all because we will not have more than 1 doodle in bed.

The other funny change is that suddenly, he seems to like the kid pool we have outside - he has started going into it totally willingly

Now if we could just get him to stop barking at every person that walks past our house...

Good for you Kirby, I just love how they change and keep us on our toes.

After Tanner was boarded while we were in South Carolina, he is more loving, eats his food right away instead of leaving it most of the day, and he is so happy to play on grass...it just makes him so happy.

Regarding barking....we are renting the main floor of a house and a professor rents the basement. Well, Tanner barks at every sound that comes from the basement. He can't understand why he can't go and investigate. Fortunately, they guy goes to bed early...or Tanner would bark all night

Make him do what you want him to do instead of barking. For instance when people walk by have him sit and watch you or go to his place and lay down. When he does it give him a valuable reward (cheese?) After a few lessons switch to praise. There ya go! Now the trick is to talk some friends into walking back and forth in front of the house

Our two love sitting in the front windows and watching the people go by.
We have taught them that if they bark they are removed from the window.
Their desire to sit in the window outweighs their desire to bark.
These doodles are smart!

we have been trying to do this. Kirby gets so fixated on things it is really tough to get through to him (even with high reward treats). The other problem is our other doodle...Dexter seems to think it's fun to get Kirby riled up so he'll go to the window and start barking and then of course Kirby follows. Dex has been on leashed time outs several times the past few days to try to teach him this is not a fun game.

Needless to say you must train both to the same behavior!
