Default Rosie was attacked by four dogs

Last night Jason and Rosie were getting ready to leave the dog park since the regular crew had just left. Jason was talking to someone and Rosie was about 15 feet from him. Another dog had started whining so its owner picked him up. Rosie was standing there checking out the dog and its owner when these four dogs charged her and started attacking. Jason ran over and covered Rosie with his body as he started pulling dogs off her. He got the leader in a headlock and the other dogs backed off. The 2 owners of the 4 dogs were apologetic but said something like "they haven't done anything like this in a long time". The 2 owners knew eachother and arrived at the park together.

So both Jason and Rosie are fine, I think the only one who is hurt is Jason. He got bit a couple times on the hand. We both looked Rosie over but couldn't see anything and she didn't show signs of pain when we were looking her over. She seems depressed still this morning. It just ticks me off the people bring dogs with a history of agression to the dog park. Rosie is a sweet, docile and submissive dog. She's our baby and I hope that she isn't afraid to go the park now. Jason said that once it was over and he got her leashed to go home, she pulled him home like they couldnt' get away from the park fast enough. He is going to call the parents of Rosie's friend Sierra to arrange for them to be at the park when they arrive so Rosie sees a "friendly face" when she gets there.

Poor baby girl!!!
I am SO GLAD she didn't get hurt!
I would have been hurt myself in that situation, I bet I would have gotten way too emotional...
Sounds like Jason handled it VERY WELL!
Hope they didn't ruin her play place for her!

That's awful! Please make sure Jason gets his bites looked at. A friend just spent 5 days in the hospital on IV antibiotics after a minor dog bite. Because they are puncture wounds they are hard to clean without forcing the nasty germs in deeper. I hope Jason took names, reported the dogs and made sure their shots were up to date.

I am sorry that happend. If I were you and you know the owners name I would report it to animal control. Here is NC if a dog bites a human it has to wear a muzzle for the rest of it's life while in public. I hate when owners bring aggressive dogs.

Just try to take Rosie and get her over the fear (if she has any) and if you see those people again I would leave immediately.

poor Rosie!! I have witnessed 1-2 attacks and it's always very scary.

That is so sweet of Jason to have protected her like that - I hope he is ok. I would tell him to get his bites looked at...

It brings back memories when Cali got attacked. It is so frightening. I felt so bad because she did absolutely nothing to deserve it except be her sweet meek self and minding her own business when a group of regulars rumbled her. I'm glad Rosie seems to be okay and sorry to hear Jason got bit protecting her. I hope his hand is okay. Hugs to you all.

So sorry about this but I am glad both Jason and Rosie are ok. It just makes me so upset when sweet dogs are attacked by unpredictable ones. Where we live we have many off leash parks and I can see a difference in dogs from one park to another. We stick to the friendlier ones. If I had a dog that could be agressive I would never chance taking it to an off leash park. Poor, sweet doodles, they always seem to be the ones who are attacked.

i second heather's post about calling the authorities and reporting the incident. it is irresponsible, dangerous, and totally unacceptable for those owners to bring dogs that have bit a human to the dog park. also, jason should get medical attention -- animal (and human!) bites get infected very easily.

How scary and awful

Glad that Rosie is ok - I would def send Jason to doctor to have those bites checked, as someone mentioned puncture wounds can get nasty fast

I also would make a report to the police and animal control on the incident - those dogs should not be allowed in the park, or any park for that matter off leash

I fully agree with the others.
The attack should be reported so those dogs are kept under stricter control! Next time it might not end as nicely.

Also, get that hand checked... has he had a tetanus shot in the past 2 yrs? If not, that might be in order too.

I just don't get people!! If any of my dogs EVER attacked another dog at a dog park, I would be responsible enough to not return!! I'm glad they are both safe, and I too hope Jason got names, etc. The owners should be held responsible for any medical costs.
From what they (dog trainers) if you don't react any different next time at the dog [ark, Rosie shouldn't either.
Good luck and stay safe!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh poor sweet baby
People are just utterly stupid sometimes.
How dare they take their dogs to a dog area like that when
they have had past problems.................
Oh is just makes me so angry.............
Make sure Jason gets the bites treated............

Oh, no! My baby Rosie...I am so hurt...I am just in tears. I can imagine how she must feel. Doodles are extremely sensitive...thank God for Jason and his quick actions and thank God that he was not hurt worse!
He is a wonderful man to place his life in danger to protect sweet Rosie.
I agree that a report should be filed because if it turns out that you need any medical attention to either Jason or Rosie, these people must be accountable. Also, if their dogs have EVER done this before and if it has been reported, they can be charged with having vicious animals and the court will force them to do what is right for the safety of regular dogs and citizens...
I don't get it either...if my dogs ever harmed another dog or person I would never let them be tempted again! Especially in a pack situation! What were these people thinking, letting these vicious animals run in a pack???
I am so angry!
Thankfully you and Jason are wise and loving and comforting...I feel so blessed that she is with you. Thank you for taking such great care of her.
Do you mind, Sharon, if I post that recent picture of Rosie with your beautiful daughter? I'd love that pose and they are both so lovely...
I won't post it without your permission though.

Please, please call the local animal control and the police. If you can go back at the same time and day and point them out, their owners will have to face the music.

What if a child had been near? I can't even imagine what kind of damage that could have caused.

I am so sorry. I hope your hand is alright and Rosie has recovered. We, too have multiple dog parks and I know which ones are friendlier than others. We have one that I swear is practically a training ground for dog fights!!

Sharon, I just got off the phone with Dave, I told him about Rosie and Jason and he said (this is a county DA speaking) that you absolutely should report this to the animal control and tell them that you want these dogs quarrantined so that Jason doesn't have to go through painful rabies shots...
He said that once they impound the dogs (they won't kill them) they will charge the owners about $50 per day and keep the dogs for a couple of weeks and when the people get a bill for that, they might think twice about taking their vicious dogs out in public.
He also said that you should have Jason and Rosie checked by doctors...and you should make the owners pay for the expenses.
I mentioned to him that I was concerned about Rosie being depressed because I have read that when a dog is in a lot of pain, they hide and try to avoid normal routines...he agreed that she should be checked and if she is hurt, these people must be accountable.
California is a no-fault state when it comes to dog attacks...they will be held responsible, you won't have to prove anything.
Please call if you want to discuss this....or if you just want support and another caring shoulder.
Again, bless Jason for his protection of little Rosie. *sigh*
