Default Tomorrow is the BIG day.........

OK ya'll......this is it.........

I leave at 6:30 am for a 4 hour one way trip to pick up "ANNIE".

FINALLY! I've only been waiting since FEBRUARY!

My appointment is for 10:30 am. I am 3rd on the list of nine puppies so I feel pretty good about getting exactly what I want. They been posting pictures (see avatar) since they were born and they are now 8 weeks old.

I am so excited I can't stand it. Boy, I hope I can sleep tonight.

Hang in there! Bailey was probably 7 months old until I could truly say he was potty trained. He had progress along the way but it took forever. I was so frustrated.

For the first while I took him out every 15 minutes as suggested by many. Then every 2 hours. In between outings I left him in the crate or leashed him in the house. The rule is to tether him to you but I couldn't really handle that so I just leashed him to a post or a chair or whatever I could find in the house and room we were in. He never had an accident while leashed even though not leashed to me. When I really needed a break I put him in his crate as I knew he wouldn't go in there (although I did worry about the day he might do that too).

When I took him outside I made sure to use the words 'go for a pee or go for a poop' along with 'go to your spot' if he wasn't there. He also got a treat for going outside. I kept the treats right at the door. Finally he got it and not after 7 months I can let him roam free in the house and not be obsessed with watching his every move. To this day he only sits on the stair and waits for me if he has to go, no bark, no whine, nothing. But I am confident that he will wait as long as he possibly can without exploding now. So it does come.

This for me was the hardest part of puppyhood. I hope housebreaking comes faster for you. I too had a dog previously who I don't even remember having to housetrain at all, just came naturally. So this was a shock. But other then housebreaking Bailey has been the best dog I've ever had and I love him to death. Good luck!

I actually heard of a dog, a clever little mini-doodle, who cottoned on to the treat thing. She would go outside with her owner, squat, nothing would come out and then run back inside and sit beside where the treats were kept.

Della used to do that! So we had to go out with her and make sure she pee'ed! So now, if you ask her to potty... she will squeeze out whatever tiny little bit of pee she has in her! It works out pretty good!

Just hang in there, your pup will get it, you just gotta be consistant!
