Default An Indecent Proposal

I didn't grow up a dog lover. We HAD dogs, but they weren't cared for in the same way we all care for our dogs now.

Several years ago my mother adopted a Keeshond dog from the shelter. At first she thought he was great...marveled at how much he seemed to love her and be happy to see her. Well fast forward from a middle aged dog to his current senior status...and...she's not so thrilled with him anymore. She never really converted to a "dog person" because she mostly finds him annoying (for being an old dog).

Well this last Mother's Day I had my mom come up from Southern California to visit us in WA state. And she fell in love with our three dogs. She's always admired Cass for her border collie brilliance and being so well trained. But she really took a liking to our two doodles too.

She dressed them up:

Spoiled them with attention, little sneaks of table scraps and lots of petting and baby talk...=)

Well this evening I spoke with her on the phone and she wanted to know if by any chance, when Squiggy (her Keeshond) finally passes away if my hubby would let her have Thule!

LOL! Obviously the answer is NEVER...but still...it was sweet that she liked Thule so much =) I took it as a huge compliment.

Cute story Adina.....isn't it funny how everyone just falls in love with these dogs....I don't think there's any pooch out there that can match their personality and intelligence! Thanks for posting!

That's cute, Adina!
I have noticed it too...people comment to me all the time about how they find our adult "puppy behavior" to be so cute...they don't get into trouble like puppies (most of the time) but they remain excited about life and so engaged, they love to play and run and are just so happy!
You gotta love 'em!

Adina that is so sweet about how your mom asked for THULE even though the answer is never

My dad isn't a big dog person as he's aged but HE is in love w/Max and Peanut, cannot believe how they don't have dog odor and HOW SMART as well as agile they are.
He swears DOODLES can THINK like us, they're so smart

Very sweet. And like all of us we wouldn't give up our babys. My in-laws have always had a big dog. His name was oreo. Very sweet BIG mix. He died a few years ago, more like 7years. So we got Cacao when she was four months old. She was and still is a bit puppy. And I don't think the in-laws really like like her. (if you know what I mean) But my husband got Beau almost two months ago and he was 11 months. Well my husband took Beau over to meet his parents (my husband is very proud of his dog) and they fell in love with him. And told him that they wouldn't mind watching him and time. DH's dad really felt for him i guess. Beau would just lay at his feet and to get pet. His dad thought he was a very well behaved dog. (THANKS AGAIN, ANNMARIE)

Now my in-laws i think would take both dogs. Other then I think they could do without the jumping.

These dogs are really the smartest and best companion for any dog lover. Thanks for sharing your story.
