Default How did your Doodle get it's name?

People keep asking how we came up with the name Mabel. We couldn't remember until OH recalled when we saw her at 5 days old she looked like a wrinkly older lady...."She looks like her name should be Maude or Mabel" my OH said.

And then we had our Mabel.

How about your doodle?

And Raleigh was born in North Carolina..hence we chose the capitol of that state which we thought was kinda cute...if we had picked a girl, she would have been Charlotte...

Cacao got her name for the tree that coco comes from the cacao tree. Chocolate doodle needs a chocolate name. hehehe Beau got his name from Annmarie and Dave. And it fits him so well.

Cinnamon got her name from her nose. Whe we saw her I said her nose is the color of Cinnamon, our favorite spice. There you go!

Her full name is Cinnamon Sugar. She had a little silver on her cheek when we picked her up.

Finn MacCool is named after the legendary Irish giant. He reminded me a bit of an Irish Wolfhound (which I've always wanted). So I looked at some Irish names of gods and such and tried a few. He answered to Finn right away and MacCool. In the legend Finn MacCool swam in some lake and his hair turned white/blonde. A fitting name for a blonde doodle.

I really like and thought about using the real spelling of it that you used, but in the end decided to stick with the modernized version that is easily read by most. He and I both love the name! His previous person called him Grayer, but I didn't really find that it suited him. I'll make sure to let Finny know that he shares his name with a bun!

Joffy is named for Joffy Next, a character in the Thursday next series by Jasper Fforde. It suits him; a goofy name for a goofy dog!

Coco was named Coco Chanel, by my mother,
who has Alzheimer's disease.
I asked her if she liked the name "Coco"
for my new very dark chocolate labradoodle....
and she said name her after the designer/inventor
of the little black dress, Coco Chanel.
I don't know how she remembered that little bit of trivia....
but I had to name her Coco Chanel,
in honor of my Mom's dwindling memory.

Abby was named just "Abby"
because my husband liked it....
and turned his nose up to nearly every
other name that was suggested....
And she got the last name of Holiday....
Abby Holiday, because we brought her home
on the 15th of December.....
I call Coco....Coke,
and Abby....Abigail....don't know why....

Gypsy's Lullaby got her name because like a typical Lab, she loves to sing and dance and has a wild streak.
Jessie came to me already named.
Hickory came to me already named.
Ava came to me named Prancer, which in my opinion did not suit her at all! As I got to know her, the name Ava just seemed to fit her, so that's what we now call her.
Chip got his name because he's chocolate, and sweet.
