OK, here's a funny (or not so funny, depending on how you look at it) story... My 6 month old doodle, Isabelle was spayed last week. Since the surgery her appetite has been poor, she's had intermittent diarrhea & constipation (and exhibiting a strange circling behavior while pooping, and at times leaving poop on her rear), and hasn't been sleeping well (having bowel movements in the middle of the night).
BUT her mood has been excellent. She's been active, playful and energetic. Today my plan was to contact the vet for a follow up check. At first the poor appetite was explained by the post surgical recovery period. Then she would eat a little here and there, but never a full day's quantity, which was quite odd for her. She also didn't appear to be losing weight, which she should have, for the quantity of food she was consuming. WELL... Just got my answer. A little background first: Before I had done research on good quality treats, I purchased a large tub of these stinky smoked chicken treats at Walmart. They smelled completely foul to me, but made her bonkers. She LOVES them. I placed them on a shelf with the intention of either throwingthem away or giving them away, but then forgot about them. I think you can figure out what's coming next.... Yes, she got hold of the tub of treats and ate nearly the ENTIRE container (which is a LOT of treats), then appears to have hidden the tub. OK... DUH -- This explains why she won't eat her food, why her bowel habits are off, possibly her energy level and her sleep issues!!! Well, the answer here is clear. Take a newspaper, roll it up and smack myself on the head. I didn't keep them out of her reach and didn't supervise her well enough to take them. Anyway, thought it was good for a chuckle, and highlights the intellect and resourcefulness of the dood. Nancy Mother of Isabelle doodleworld.ning.com

I have had familiar experiences with Jonah especially, except for 2 points. He's gotten the cookie jar twice when I didn't put it up, but.....
1) he never tries to hide the evidence 2) it NEVER affects his appetite!! Thanks for my morning giggle!
