Default Hickory is progressing

My son has decided to work with Hickory to help get her over her fear of men. I took pics of him working with her tonight and thought you all might enjoy seeing how far she's come.

This was the beginning of their session tonight.

This was toward the end of their session tonight.

Thanks all, I'm pretty proud of them both.
Not long ago she cowered in the farthest corner of the dog house when a man was anywhere in sight, so the improvement is dramatic. She's still skittish and so far Joel's the only guy who's welcome to touch her, but considering where she was, it's a huge step.

Awesome! Maya has become afraid of men too. We have been working on that for a while now. She is getting much better

We brought Hickory in the house today to meet Shannon (Joel's dw-2-B) and Katie (my youngest dd). She was terrified at first, but before long was taking pieces of hot dogs from the girls and while she refused to leave my side, she did let them pet her while she leaned against me for security. I picked up her front feet and held her against me while I scratched her tummy, which made her throw her head back and cuddle against me. Before she went back out she was licking my toes and wagging her tail.

Every day we try to introduce something/someone new so she's getting quite the wide variety of experiences now. Hopefully in time she'll realize that not one of the things we've done has hurt her in any way. She's nearly quit jumping now when I give her an unexpected pat on the back or rump; so we are making some head way.
