Default Big Yuck

I let the doodles out back to play...10 minutes go by and I don't see either of them so I go to investigate. Dex clearly had something in his mouth so I called my husband. He starts galloping around the yard with an obvious "prize" in his mouth. We get Kirby inside (he was very very not happy to go in) and Dex just kept galloping around the yard with this item in his mouth.

We finally get him into the garage and tried every treat we have to get him to "drop it"...finally my husband gets his mouth open...it appeared to be a baby bunny (which is now dead).

YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! Both of them look so proud of themselves and Kirby is staring at me to go back out back.

No kidding! We had a nest of baby bunnies in our yard. Now they hide in the tiger lillies but Charlie is obsessed with them. Hopefully, they are too fast for him. He did catch and (I think) unintentionally killed one when it was very small.

Leslie, they just can't help it. Bunnies, squirrels, birds are all prey.

Today we saw a small robin hopping along the sidewalk. It wasn't able to fly away and I imagine was doomed. I wasn't going to let Charlie be the one to finish him off.

You're going to have to nickname him Dexter the Destroyer! I was so afraid you were going to say he swallowed something again that I was actually relieved to hear it was a poor baby bunny. Gotta love these doods.....

I know, but it's still gross!! Poor Kirby was having a cow when we made him go inside...he was not happy - I was proud of him for coming when we called him!

haha...when I saw him with something in his mouth I was concerned...then I figured any sort of wildlife could be digested in case he swallowed it

haha...ok I changed the title of my post so nobody else thinks Dex ate another object

Annmarie - who knows - Kirby could have caught/killed the rabbit and handed it to Dex...you never know with those 2.

A buddy of ours had a lab that would hunt down and kill all the moles in the ground. Maybe you could steer the boys in that direction....

Wow Leslie...thank God it was a bunny and nothing 'operable'!! Not that I want to see a bunny hurt mind you.... We've got ground hogs (not beavers, Annmarie..hahaha) out back that drive both dogs wild! So far we've caught two in a have-a-heart trap and transported them way across town!!!
