Default Guarding the Flock (of One)

We have had a couple of ailing goslings, which requires quarantine on our porch in a wooden poultry crate. Naturally Chouette is fascinated with her new housemates but we have taught her not to bowl them over when they're out of the carrier, and not to disturb their rest.

Today DH removed the current occupant to clean its quarters, and the cat was looking way too interested in the prospect of a gosling on the grass whilst DH was tidying up. So DH set Chouette to guarding the gosling, which she did admirably. The cat stalked off in disgust!

Nice to see a dog working for its keep. What next, you going to teach her to drive the car to the shops?

Gene is doing a calendar, is he? I've been out of touch so I missed that!

Yeah, I love her hair right now but she's almost due for a grooming job. I want to keep it shorter in the summer but I like her look a lot better than the look in the avatar.

Nice to hear from you, too!

What a great picture and smart doodle. I think it would be great in a calendar too! Way to go Chouette.

WAY TO GO, CHOUETTE!! Goodness triumphs over the cat!!!

The picture is totally adorable and gee, I guess I didn't know Gene was working on a calendar either but I would definitely vote for that photo!!

Thanks for the story, Leslie, I'm so proud of her, and how you are training and loving on ChouChou.

The nicest thing is that the gosling made a full recovery and has now gone back to imprinting on geese instead of labradoodles!

And how could anyone not love Chou, Maureen? What a precious gift!
