I think everyone here is working toward the same goal and doing a great job!
Here' the thing. We spent over $500 with a very unique group of trainers. I have never seen a program work so well.
Remember, since Bogart is still a pup, he has a few quirks that will take time to work through. But, the evaulator said they will come with age.

If I were to give any pointers, these 2 would be the TOP on my list, provided your doodle is aleady doing things like walking properly on a leash and know basic commands like sit, stay, down.

1.) PLACE
Buy a special mat, in fact buy 2! One for the house and one for the car for when you go places.
Don't let the doodle lie on the mat to sleep or use throughout the day. I keep ours under the couch and take out when needed like when having dinner.

Train the dog to PLACE on the mat. This is NOT a STAY command, it's a PLACE command.
By scooting your dood across the floor from behind, get him/her to lie on the mat and say PLACE. Give the hand command slightly in front of the head and say PLACE.
The dood should earn to PLACE for up to 1/2 hour.
I have actually sat over him and had my hands ready to push him down on his shoulders if he gets up from a command of PLACE.
Don't wander too far from the dood because immediate corrections are essential.

After awhile, they will learn to PLACE on command when things happen liike the pzza guy or a guest comes over.
Plus! Take the car mat to soccer, baseball games..........anywhere that you want the them to just stay put.
I used the mat in church for 1 1/2 hours and at the gym.
This is an awesome training tool.

2. Stand over Stay.

This comes in handy when you're walking your dog and a neighbor approaches or another dog.

Get the dog to go DOWN. Then with one foot on one side, place your other foot over him and hold him between your 2 feet and give the STAY command.

*** VEry important!! To Release your dog from ANY command like the above, you MUST pat te dog vigorously on he top of the head and say OKAY!!
If the dog releases before your pat and OKAY, they have to go back to what you were doing until he waits for the release from you and the OKAY!!

This is an awesome thing to do as well. We started this very young with Bogie.
What this does is make the dog dependent on YOU for everything! It goes along with before you give a treat, make the dog do something, like SIT...then the treat. No treats for free!
***When you're going to feed the dog, they MUST lie DOWN and STAY rigt in front of that bowl drooling....hahaha..........then you release to eat with a pat on the head and an OKAY!!

Hope this helps! It's wotking wonders for us.
