Default Bad night at the gym..BUT I JUST GOT THE SCRIPT

I understand that training a dog for service can cause uproars, but this one has prepared me for life!
I have a hard time dealing with people going off on me. This woman BEAST has really upset me.
I took Bogart to the gym. He's been there 3 times now and has been perfect.........like he was in church last night.
Today, he was being his good litle self and this woman who was working out kept glaring at him. Everyone else was wanting to pet him and tlaking about him.
After the workout, I sat down with Bogie and was talking to a friend.
This woman came up in the area to do stretches...........and it went like this....

"Get that dog out of this area so I can lie on the floor."

Bogie was about 10 ft from her and lying down
but I moved slightly and said, sure.

She then went off on me!
I don't come her to watch YOU train your dog! This is NO place for a dog!
My daughter and husband were attacked by DOGS!

I said, "I'm sorry about that!" She continued and I said that he was in training.
She said, "I'm never coming here again if this is what goes on."

One of the trainers came over and said that what I was doing was legit! She told everyone loudly that she didn't care!

THEN.........she, honest to God, walked backwards for about 15 feet GLARING at me and actually showing her teeth!! I swear I was looking in the face of evil!

I am prepared for whatever comes my way in the future after this! I don't think anyone could possibly upset me that bad again. I almost wanted to cry.
I had a lot of support from other people around. I guess this woman just totally lacks in any JOY whatsoever!!
ANother person told me that if Bogart was unruly or something that would be a different story. But they said I had him totallly under control and he was perfect.

So, Jac! This is what I can expect, huh?
The trainer will be here tomorrow night. I'll talk this one out with him and ask how to better handle it. What a horrible person this was!!
thanks for listening

There's always one, huh?

Sorry you had to experience that. The utter lack of compassion in some people is mind-blowing.

I'm sorry - some people are just crazy. I learned that the hard way. You should see the way people treat parents of special needs kids...if they don't "look" disabled people have all kinds of nasty things to say about their behavior or habits. It's really amazing how rude people can be.

Ya know some people are just miserable beings and
you have done nothing wrong nor has Bogie!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So please don't let them make you cry...easy to say I know

I ran into an idiot at beach this weekend that told me if my dog stepped on his blanket he would beat my dog, I was so shocked and said nothing
cause he scared me, Denver was about 4 feet from his blanket and had
no intention of stepping on it but I called Denver away from him fast.
I almost cried too because I was frightened that he would hurt my Denver
but I did not and just told myself that there are idiots in the world that
I can do nothing about..................

Wow! Sorry for all that nonsense. Just remember that ALL the other people there were behind you. Take strength from them and let her negative energy flow right past you.

We humans are so funny. We tend to harness the negative but neutralize the positive. However, Bogart was not bothered by her negative energy. Know why? Because HE could feel all the positive energy and her small output could not break the great vibes around him. He wasn't fazed!

So go back with your head held high. Take courage from Bogart, too!!

Gosh, Linda--I sure hope that was a RARE event . . . the way I see Bogie through your descriptions, well, he seems like a perfect little guy that most people would love to have around.

Focus on the positive. There was ONE idiot there but the whole rest of the gym was behind you...

What you are doing is a great thing, only a few have the patience and dedication for that. Don't let ignorant people get to you.

LInda ...i got chills reading about your experience, i am so sorry and I don't understand people like that. In way they are to be pitited.
YET I sit here in SHOCK that someone's heart is that bitter.I do know it'd scare me as someone could go off that easily has problems in their own life and possibly also insecure and maybe even jealous

LINDA take the positive out of the negative...as you probably had
Lesson #1 in negativity because of whatever reason they dont' realize Bogie is to help you out. Gotta Move on and as my mom says
BE THANKFUL that person isn't related to you

NOW i've only said this in the most extreme circumstances cause it makes these kind of people BLINK , THEIR EYES POP out
they shut up and walk away.
(possibly in shock? thinking i am a religious nut? hahhaaa)

"thank heavens Jesus LOVES you cause at this moment I sure Don't.
May god bless you as you need it more me . Have a nice day."

Ok i've had a few experiences where I did end up crying later I was so scared of someone with that much anger that it felt like venomous evil !

Geez, it sounds like my grandmother reincarnated. She was a miserable soul and she didn't care who knew it. In fact, if you were having a down day, that would make her day.

Don't take it personally. As long as Bogie is behaving and you have the support of the gym management, then let it slide. It takes all kinds to make a world!

I've been working out for a long time at gyms and this really reminds me of a side effect of steriod use called riod rage. Just the smallest thing can set someone off who uses steriods.

I am sorry that happened to you and Bogart. That was very uncalled for. Maybe because her kid and husband were attacked she has very strong feelings. But you and Bogart shouldn't let that lady get to you. Just remember the rest of the gym was behind you. Again i am sorry this happened to the two of you.

Linda that is a sad story. Even if her and her husband were attacked and she was scared of dogs why would she feel the need to come near you! The nerve of some people!

Thank you everyone! You've really helped me!!! Each one of you has said something comforting and compassionate!
It's funny how it still bothers me somewhat. I honestly believe it wasn't the sitution but the venom spewing from her mouth and eyes! UGH!
The almost cried had to do with a flashback of the EX Husband cop. He had that look.

I'll be fine!! I know that because it's going to help me in the future. As I said, I don't know WHO could beat her at this one later on!

Annmarie..........that IS a perfect thing to say!!

You could always try saying this;

"You smell bad and your momma dresses you funny!"

BWAAAHAAHAAHAAA!!!

Sorry, I couldn't resist!! I agree that it sounds like ROID RAGE. In which case, the above sentence may turn her into the Incredible Hulk, which would be bad. Very bad. Green and ugly ain't no way to go through life! Oh, wait, I think you said she looked sorta like that anyway!! LOL

Have a wonderful week and give that Bogie a big kiss!!
