Default Another ingested ball story.

Casey ate a ball Saturday night. We were over at a neighbor's and Casey and his doggie friend were playing in the backyard while we were on the deck. I could see he had something but wasn't sure what so I started toward him, of course he thought this might be a fun game of keep-away and ran, and then it the object was GONE. He had swallowed it WHOLE. So with the neighbor we deduced that it was in fact something that looked like this

And it had a light-up thing inside of it, so obviously a battery of some sort (clearly this is not a dog toy).
My husband even tried to see if he could pull it out. We took him home, no symptoms at all. If we hadn't witnessed it, there would be no way to know that this pup had a large ball in his stomach. Sunday- totally fine. Sunday night, he was gagging a bit but nada. This morning first thing we took him to the vet and x-ray confirmed that he in fact had a ball in his stomach. Per the vet rec. we took Casey to the vet hospital where they were going to do an endoscopy and try to pull it out. The vet said he almost gave up; he kept getting ahold of the tenacles of the ball, pulling it clear to the mouth and then they would slip and snap back to the ball. Anyway, he finally got it! Hooray. Oh and it was lighting up a bunch of different colors when it came out, which they got a kick out of. And vet said they saved the ball for us. I don't want to see one of those balls as long as I live. Recovery should be easy. I get to pick him up at 9pm and I can't wait to pet his little fuzzy nose. I am just so thankful that they were able to get it w/o cutting him. Y'all don't even want to know how much this cost! Yikes.

Glad to hear that they got it out! Geez... I often wonder what might be floating around inside Charlie. I'm sure he's swallowed a foreign object or two.

I wonder if doggie autopsies are ever done and what percentage have some weird thing in the stomach? It would be an interesting statistic.

I'm so glad your story had a happy ending!
Just like kids, dogs can get in serious situations very quickly and innocently.

There was an episode about a dog swallowing one of those on Emergency Vet on the Animal Planet. They almost weren't able to pull it out of that dog, but did n the end. I'm glad everything turned out okay. What is it will these doodles lately?!

Phew, Glad that worked out ok. I was surprised that Casey was able to swallow that thing whole!! What these Doods won't do!! Marley was intrigued by one we had. I am glad we decided to just let him play with it once or twice. We feared the blinking ball inside to.

Take Care Casey and be careful!!!

Marley's first blinker experience.

Hearing all of these stories has me thinking of just how thankful I am that Sherlock threw up the large superball he swallowed We didn't even know he had swallowed it.

I'm glad to hear it all worked out okay.

They are adventurous doodles aren't they? How do you get them to stop? Sherlock started chewing on my sandal last night. You wouldn't mind but I was still wearing it.
