OK--here's what my husband told me about the specs for the bed--this is already more than makes sense to me!!
Need tenon cutter. Many different cutters on the market, depending on your individual preferences. My husband bought one that is used on a router and he used a a Forstner bit sit1 ½. The tenon maker he bought is called is called the Logman Tenon Maker TWO (the TWO is the key part, he said the Tenon Maker ONE is worthless.). His set will cut up to a 3 tenon. The inside measurements of the bed are about 30 x 36, but what you actually do is decide the size of the pillow you want and design the bed to be 3 larger on the outside. --Again, this is depending on the size of the logs you use; our logs were all about 3" diamater. We we able to cut our own wood with a cutting permit which is issued seasonally, depending on climatic factors, etc. We choose to use birch, but that is also just personal preference. Hope this helps--he will be happy to share whatever more info you need! |
