Our poor wee Jack has just got home yesterday after a worrying week.
Last Sunday he just stopped eating - then two days later he had lost a couple of kilo's so my wife took him to the vet. They suggested a wet high protein diet. The next day, he was still not eating - although I had handfed him a little bit. I suspected a blockage - so got my wife to take him to the vet again (I work some 60km's from home). As I suspected the x-ray showed something, but they couldn't see properly so had to give him a tablet overnight and then x-ray again. On Thursday, the x-ray showed something completely blocking up his insides, so they operated and pulled out: one kneehigh sock of my daughters, and a pair of her knickers !!! What is with that? They were twisted in quite a bunch - so obviously no chance of making it through - or back out. Jack wasn't a very brave dog - so had to stay on pain killers for a while - and we got him home yesterday. He has a horrible cut through his middle - but is almost back to himself already. We never crated him before but had to get a crate to get him in as he is a bit of a bouncy character. We do love him to death - and the place wasn't the same when he wasn't here... Even the cat was moping about! I'm putting the whole experience down to him being only 6 months old - and it being a puppy fetish.... But would love to know if other people have had the same thing happen - and if they learn from the whole experience. Here he is "before" he had his wee "accident" ![]() ![]() ![]() And yes - I'm not sure if he brought those clothes in that are sitting on the floor in that last photo! Ya gotta smile - it's a nice day having your mate back Aaron

Poor Jack! Thank goodness you took him to the vet and found the problem! I'm glad you got him back- he's a tough little kiwi, I guess!!

oh no - poor Jack!! That is exactly the same surgery Dexter had. He was seriously not a happy camper for ~3-5 days post surgery. It must be quite painful because he was nothing like that when he was neutered.
You are past the worst of the recovery - we were told 10 "quiet" days...

Poor guy! We had a foster dog who was a sock eater. Luckily, he seemed to barf them back up. I had to keep an eye on him all the time. Some dogs just like to chew things up, others insist on swallowing them whole.
I'm glad you figured out something was wrong and he was able to have the surgery. Now teach those kids to use the hamper! Deb

Thanks everyone
Jack went back to the vet today for a checkup - he should have his stitches out next monday, and they have switched him onto Vet care dry food. So he's doing great - although he's now prone to peeing inside ... grrr, however it's quite cold here at the moment (not cold to US standards - but cold enough for Jack not to want to go out there). Many thanks Aaron
