Default Sunny Day Pics

We FINALLY had some sunshine! After all the rain, I was so happy to get out and take some pics of the critters.

Here are a few of Noodle. She was SO happy to be out and about! We spent most of the day playing outside so by the time she came back in the house she was pooped and literally didn't move from her bed the rest of the evening.

Noodle being regal and practicing "sit" and "stay". Her tongue is dirty from catching her wubba.

After a catch of the toy, she takes a second to catch her breath before we start playing again.

This is her typical stance as she's waiting for me to finish my barn chores. She can hardly wait to start playing again but she knows she can't go out further than the front mats until the chores are done. So she'll take up her post at the front door and just wait until I say "bring me your toy" and then she tears back to me, drops the toy at my feet, and then takes off like a bullet so she can get a headstart on the throw. It's hilarious!

Thanks, everyone! I kinda think she's a cutie too.

Training her not to stray past the mats was a HUGE process! It was a lot of "Noodle No. Noodle stay. Noodle No. Noodle inside. Noodle no. Noodle back. Noodle inside."

After a bit of practice and more than a couple frustrated moments, and one particular frustrated moment when I was throwing my hands up into the air and making this loud grunting "this is never going to work" guttural sound in the back of my throat ... I found out something amazing ... she hated that sound but it sure got her attention and got her back into the barn!

So, with that little trick up my sleeve, I crept into the stall closest to the doorway (and in with a very mouthy, busy, baby horse that was in pure heaven with a new "human toy" deposited in her stall). Anyway, I listened for Noodles little feet to pad too far down the isle, and then I'd grunt like a son-of-a-gun from inside the stall. She must have thought there was a horrible bear outside the door just waiting for her!

A few of these little exercises and she wasn't too eager to go out the door without me. Now she gets as close to the edge as she dares and then looks outside and looks back at me. Looks outside then back at me. And so on until I finish with my chores. But she waits and that's the key. Oh, and she's such a darn cutie while she does it too!

We're going to start puppy classes (even though she's not a puppy) next week. I'm really looking forward to it although it might be embarrassing to pull out the "grunt" in front of people!

Yes, keeping her white is a problem most of the time!!! I have a few jackets that she wears when we go to the barn on rainy days and we go to the groomer once a month (I don't have a bathtub!). For most things that aren't mud, she actually brushes off easily. Her hair is pretty dense so it doesn't hold to the dirt to her skin unless it's wet.

Still ... thank goodness for a good groomer!
