These girls are soooo spoiled!! Coco is still in need of her bath.
We lost power this afternoon....and it is a very cloudy, dark day....
Couldn't seem to get enough candle light in the bathroom to see well at all.
LIghts are on now, but too tired to tackle it tonight.....So, tomorrow is another day.
Poor Abby is several lengths....but the matts are nearly all gone. Thankfully !!!

Leslie until next spring I don't have peanut cut closer than 1 1/4in due to snow/cold.....she was cut down to 1/2 last july.
and you're also right LESLIE but with temps going down to teens and sometimes below zero with windchill i somehow
can't go that close right now.

OH this is going to sound silly but i finally took my OWN round Hairbrush and WOW it took out some nasty matts
and the matts aren't back today hmmmmmmm (yes I am buying a NEW BRUSH for me later today)

Tyke got trimmed down to about 1/2 inch last summer - much easier to care for when she is swimming and camping. Right now, her hair is pretty long - I like it best that way, but the maintenance is sure tougher! Her groomer said Tyke's coat matts if you look at it the wrong way! I've ordered some Best Shot products to see if that will help.

Ginny's lucky she doesn't live at my place because that's the way I clip my dogs every summer. My poodles also were clipped down to the skin. They loved it I could tell by the way they romped and bounced about after the job was done. I'm just a bit concerned about her being so naked during winter. Of course I have no idea how cold Indiana gets in winter. If you have a nice warm coat for her that will keep her going for the next couple of weeks until it starts to grow back.

Another plus is that she needs clipping less often if it is taken down to the skin and, as they don't much like being clipped, this is a good thing. And, quite honestly, I think she looks every bit as good after the clip as she did before (muddy face and feet not such a problem now either). Keep smiling and see what 2 weeks will bring.

Oh, and a little hint on those matts. If you can't comb them out just take your scissors and run the blade into the top of the mat near the skin and drag the blade through to the outside (don't cut). If you do this a few times it will be slicing away the matted bits which should then enable you to comb the rest out.

Anne,

Great tip about how to use the scissors...sort of scraping the matt out. I have cut them out and then comb, but this sounds a little better.....as maybe you don't have a chunk out....a little smoother finish with more hair around to blend??

IMOand for anyone interested....~~Best Shot products really help alot....
though I don't find the matts just simply coming out always....
it does make it easier to
get the rest out....after really working on them before the bath.
I know the directions say you can skip the brushing and dematting
and just do it after the bath...but I don't think that works for us.
At any rate, these products are really helpful and seem to keep Abby cleaner longer....
and OH so SOFT!!

when we take kumo to petsmart to be groomed, they always ask in advance if he has mats, and if so we have to sign a special release form that says it is ok to shave him (or parts of him) if it is necessary to get the mats out. this seems reasonable to me... i feel like it is pretty much my responsibility, not theirs, to spend the time breaking up and brushing out any mats before he goes in. i suppose if i was willing to pay more for a different groomer, i might have higher expectations

This is exactly how my dear Daisy looked after being at the groomers, i was devastated! I thought it was a different dog, she looks really thin and like a poodle. Do you know how long it will be before she becomes the fluffy, lovable, chocolate brown labradoodle we know and love?
