Thought I'd leave the "boobs" to the girls. Since I lost about 50# a few years ago....I don't have any anymore!

Are you happy now Linda....you made me type "boobs"??

The roses are red and yellow
violets white and blue
Seems the boy doodle may appear mellow
that is till they see a boob or two

Steering clear of the boob talk, it's way too early and I haven't had coffee yet.

As far as early potty training - we didn't get Dex til he was 3 mos. old. But he was fully trained after 2 to 3 days with us. No accidents since then. He has a bladder of steel too. I've had dogs that took forever to train. But some are just natural born successes. Doodles seem above the pack in intelligence, and that helps.

It's possible that your pups will not have any more accidents in the house. I got my Standard poodle puppy at 8 wks of age and she had a total of 3 accidents the first week I brought her home and that was IT! She was great!

OK, Dex broke his current record and had one accident in the house yesterday... ...my husband's bad, he didn't realize Dex was asking him to go out. Got to fire off a round or two from the Nature's Miracle trigger........ :P

He went to the vet yesterday for his 1st check up! Everyone at the vet's went all gooey over him..saying he looks like a stuffed animal etc. Dex is 9 lbs, and got a clean bill of health YAY!! He also got his kennel cough vaccination (nose drops), which KO'd him for the rest of the evening...very drowsy afterward. He seems back to his old self this morning.

We've had 2 so far - both completely my fault, not his. Well unless you count the fact he refuses to pee and poo at the same time - So we go outside and go pee, then come back in for 3-5 minutes and go back out to go poo. He WILL NOT do both. Annie knocked over a glass of milk while we were outside peeing so I brought Sandy in and put him in his crate while I cleaned the carpet - he freaked out and I thought he was having a fit about being in his crate until I smelled it... He just couldn't hold it any longer!

Awww poor Sandy - I bet he tried really hard to hold it...........

I took Dex and the kids to a park/playground this afternoon. Dexter did pretty well, he got a little shy as we came upon the actual playground area where the most people were congregated. I stopped right about where his comfort level started to go down, and picked him up and didn't go any closer. After a few minutes he started wiggling like he wanted to be on the ground, so I put him down and he seemed better, he sat down next to me. A few times people would come over to have a look, sometimes with small children, so I'd squat down and pick up Dex again, and he was OK with the attention. Overall, a good socialization period. We only stayed at the park for about 1/2 hour.

But the thing that I find completely bewildering, is that not one person asked me if it was OK to pet my dog. I don't mean asking my permission (that's why we were there, to be around and meet people), but asking if it was OK - i.e. does the dog have any problems or hang-ups being petted? - that type of thing. I have never approached a dog out on a walk without addressing the owner first. It's just poor judgement for people, especially those with small children, NOT to ask if a dog is OK with being touched. I don't think I'm being over-sensitive, I just don't understand approaching a strange dog like that... <<shrug>>

Lynn, I am guessing it's because Dexter is a puppy. When he gets bigger, people will ask. I have found that no one is afraid of a puppy.

I think you are really smart to start early to socialize him.

The same thing often happens to Tanner and me. Strangers and children with parents rushing up to him. They want to touch him cause he looks so "soft".
Urgh!

At 8 months now, he is 23" tall and 50 lbs and still parents let their kids run over to pet him with out asking if it is ok.

He is still shy of strangers and I have to really be quick to tell them PLEASE NO........

PS I love hearing about your wonderful puppy adventures...Tanner was 4 months when we got him so I am seeing what I missed through you all.

Linda - I bet you're right. I didn't even think about the puppy-ness....

Annie - Thanks for saying so...but 4 months is still very young, I can't imagine you missed out on much!

Annie in a way maybe you missed out? or in another way hahhahaa maybe you were lucky? we got Max at 13 weeks he was turning 4mo old. we slept thru the night from day 1, he never nipped or had sharp nails, and trained so easily and provided much comical antics

peanut we got at 9 weeks old and didn't sleep thru the night for at least 2 weeks. she made us become human ice scuptures in the artic tundra temps 24/7 prefering to play in the snow and either pee or poop and NOT both at the same time. she is not nipping much anymore, I just had her nails trimmed.

sooooooo which came first chicken or egg? hahahaha
