Default Halloween

My Dad does a haunted house every year, he turns his yard into a graveyard, has fog and some scarey costumes. All in all, it's quite a fun time and he ends up getting about 250-350 people a year because of it. It's tradition that my husband and I go over and a lend a hand (along with some others).

Well this was Juneau's first Halloween and let me tell you, he HATED it. I mean I understand no dog really enjoys listening to people scream and their owners dress up as something completely foreign, but Juneau was completely stressed. My Mom always stays inside as she's not really into the whole scaring part so she hung out with Juneau. We knew it would be a rough night so we brought him a bone, his kong and his treat ball. Well it wasn't the screaming or the random people walking on the front lawn, it was the costumes

My husband was the first to dress up and Juneau wanted nothing to do with him, but as soon as he put his mask on, Juneau turned into a terrified pup, I felt pretty bad. He would bark non-stop and wouldn't come near my husband. We even tried laying the costume out, letting him get a good sniff in, brought out the high reward treats and clicker, yet nothing could be done to persuade him to come anywhere near the costume or the person wearing it. What sort of made it worse was that there was 6 of us all dressed up...

Needless to say, Halloween is Juneau's least like 'holiday'

Anyone else have a scaredy dog?

Awww poor baby! We don't get trick or treaters around where I live and I didn't dress up, so Malcolm was pretty much oblivious I guess. Although He did dress up and I took him to the PetSmart Howl-o-ween party
