Hi guys,
I was just looking at all my pictures and realized how big my baby is getting!!! He was supposed to be around 40 lbs and about 18" tall...he has now hit 50 lbs and 24" inches tall at 6 1/2 months! I thought I would share some updated pics... oh, and Jasper has graduated intermediate training and is half way through his advanced click-a-trick class!! AND my little monster as officially hit his 'I'm going to test you' stage. We have had several stare downs, lol, but I win!! If I ask him to go to his kennel he sits down and stares at me. So, I stand at his kennel just staring back at him. Yesterday, our staring contest was 4 minutes!! Then he got up and sulked into his kennel. It was so hard not to laugh. He gets mad when we laugh at him...he is so hard to be mad at... He has also chewed a 6ft stretch along the carpet/tile transition and we may have to get new carpet in the living room if it can't be stretched enough to be re-tacked...I leave for work at 6:30am and Todd wakes up around 8am, so for the past 4 months we have let Jasper and Tux move into the living room if they want to and let them watch cartoons on the couch- and yes they actually cuddle up and watch tv...anyway last week he decided to eat a bath mat from the master bath and bring the leftovers into my bed to show me, and then progressed to the carpet... He has also lost the last two of his baby teeth so we are hoping the chewing will go back to normal now...but he is on 'probation' and one if one more thing is destroyed, the little man gets a ticket to crate-dom!!! If one of us home but asleep and one of us is gone, he acts up but he does not chew on stuff if we are both home and asleep, strange... Anyway...he is growing up and doing great..oh, and he LOVES to have his teeth brushed! It is the weirdest thing! The hair brush is still not a favorite of his but he is getting better!! Sorry, didn't mean to make this that long but he has been a busy little doodle!! Last edited by Jasper'sMomma; 09-17-2011 at 04:52 PM. |

he looks great on his graduation day..
looks like he s going to be a big boy too.. much of what your witnessing is what we ve gone thru with Toby..from leaving his teeth around the carpet to chewing..even now at almost 4 yrs. he ll occasionally chew..not one of my shoes..but, the wifes.. to get an idea how much he could possibly weigh..Toby was around 45lbs at 6mos..at 1yr. he was 26" at the shoulders and close to 70lbs..i thought he d be as tall as he would ever get..but, gain d another inch when he turn d 2yrs and was 75lbs..and was close to 100lbs last month..he s now on a diet and hopefully next summer he ll be closer to 80lbs.. |

Deepnite - I am really curious to see how big he gets! We wanted a large doodle like yours!! I hope he continues on like Toby
Do you think how big a dog's parents are is not a good judge of how big their pups will be? Since jasper is a 7 generation labradoodle I thought he would surely be around his parents size. I WANTED a large doodle but we saw Jasper and he was coming home with us!!! just curious if you had an an opinion I HOPE he never gets a taste for my shoes!! lol... |

you would think that if the parents were big..so would the eventual pups..but, i d consider more about how big the grandparents were..
and F1 and F1b standards being bigger than multigens.. the litter Toby came from..the parents were smaller than any of the offspring..and Toby was the runt of the litter..

I was going to remark on how big Jasper is (and he is) but I just realized he only weighs 5 pounds more than Sadie--she is suddenly getting very big too (and she's 21 inches at the shoulder). She and Jasper are almost the exact same age--she'll be 7 months on Friday. How do you like the click and trick class? We also graduated from intermediate about a month ago and we're probably going to start the advanced class so that we can get ready to take the canine good citizen test.
She is not so interested in destroying carpeting, but she does like to find boxes of tissue and pull every single one out and then chew on the box. |

HOLEY CANOLI!! Jasper really is HUUUUGE!!.........and so handsome!
At 6 1/2 months, he sure isn't finished sprouting & I think you will have your wish of a big dood! All my pictures of Bogart are on my other laptop that crashed. I had it fixed so that, eventually, I could retrieve them via Carbonite.....long story. But, it is such FUN to see comparison pictures of the THEN and the NOW. I am content with Bogart's 68LBS at almost 4. I haven't flown with him yet, but he'll be easier to fly with when I do. Our breeder didn't think he'd weigh much more than between 40-50.....so we border on a 20-30 lb difference. I'm not sure how to judge their potential size. Bogart's mom is an English Yellow Lab and dad is a small Standard poodle. We met both of them and I kept thinking that Bogart would HAVE to weigh more than 40-50......and he does. CONGRATS to JASPER and to you for all your efforts and working toward his CGC! I seriously think all dogs need to have their Canine Good Citizen. It's not only great for the dog, but I think people respect a well trained dog who can do all the steps required by CGC. I'd just like to add that .........training NEVER stops! It's just like humans......if you don't use it, you lose it! I use to teach French and was a Latin scholar. Didn't use it and I lost it! Dogs need a job even if it's just training everyday. It can be as simple as making them sit before they are allowed to approach their bowl. Things like that can help them to stop the sneaky behavior the love so much! And...what is it with doodles and paper towels and tissues?

What a handsome boy
Malcolm is supposed to be a "small" sized doodle. He's not quite 5 months old and weighs 16 pounds. He's supposed to be 30-35 pounds full grown. I think he might be a bit bigger than that though, but not huge |

Toby is so cute ! And he is so much bigger than Jasper!
Jasper has leveled out and had only grown up and not really gotten any heavier. He weighs just under 55 pounds and is about 26" tall. But his chest has gotten huge. All the sweaters I try to buy are either too small on the chest an under his arms or way too big around his neck and tummy to fit around his chest! But he gets cold and can't lay outside with my lab as long as he wants too He is doing well with his training and he got his first therapy badge for voluteer work at a hospice facility! He is soo intuitive and kind and calm. And he loves the elevators- it's cracks me up He turned 10 months yesterday and can take the CGC in two months...yay! Didn't you say that Toby does therapy work??? How do find places to work? |

a friend just mention d that she took her dog to visit a neighbor and told me that Toby would fit in great as a visitation animal..
the center said OK..but, id eventually have to get him certified..each certifying agency has there own requirements..but, most of them are quite similar from one to another..but, 16 mos. later Toby was certified as a therapy dog.. |
