Gigi, CeCe, and the Bear!

I just wanted to tell you guys about my wonderful watch dog. CeCe & I were sitting on the bottom deck at our mountain home enjoying the glorious afternoon shower(we have been in a horrible drought for about a year) watching a small buck drinking from our water bucket. The buck suddenly bounded into the trees to my right and out of the corner of my eye I saw a shadow to my left. When I turned to look the shadow was about a 300 pound black bear! He was sitting approximately 4 feet from me and maybe 2 feet from CeCe who had her nose sticking through the railing, Yikes! CeCe never made a sound, which was probably a good thing at that point, but just stood smiling and wagging her tail. I had somewhat of an out of body experience as I couldn't believe what was happening. I guess that all of my reading about what to do kicked in as I slowly walked over, scooped up my 55 lb. heroine, and slowly backed into the house.

As soon as I slammed the door my real self returned and I screamed for a good 15 minutes. This in turn is what scared CeCe and she promptly threw up on the floor. I practically downed a bottle of wine while the bear slowly drank a little water then ambled off into the forest. The moral of the story is: these dogs are definitely lovers-not fighters and dont be surprised who they may pick to be their new playmates!

Yikes!

A Bear!! Thank goodness that CeCe never got curious enough to go and greet the new friend!! I'm glad everything worked out, but WHOLY MOLY, A BEAR!!

And I am super glad that the 2 of you were able to make it in the house without any issues, be safe!
