Default Love Those Paper Towels

Tonight Murphy (15 week old Labradoodle) and Jai Mahasi (AKA Moose - 4 year old Golden Retriever) are playing non-stop. Of course, I had them outside to run a bit, but they continued their play activity inside - a bit noisy for sure. I was doing some work on the computer, and I noticed that it got very quiet - too quiet for a house with a puppy. I called Murphy, and Moose came, but no Murphy to be found. I checked downstairs and upstairs, but no Murphy. (Yes, we have gates, but I had left the basement door open). I walked thru the kitchen and heard a noise and checked her crate. We have a small canvas crate with dark nylon meshing - kind of hard to see in. We use it mainly as a resting place for her during the day. There she was - quietly shredding a roll of paper towels! She had gone down to the basement and grabbed a roll of paper towels (yes, I also left the door to that cabinet open - shame on me!). So, there she was in her crate shredding - I couldn't figure out if she was just making her 'pad' more comfortable, or was planning on eating the paper. Needless to say, I wasn't happy but had a hard time not laughing. So, I cleaned up the mess (luckily my wife is out tonight) and let Murphy outside. She grabbed one of my shoes on the way out the door. She definitely is all puppy.

That's hilarious Bill

Our Charlie is a tissue thief. She doesn't chew anything else. But if there is a box of tissues around at nose level, she'll sneak one into her big mouth and sneak away.

Nuthin' but the facts! Quiet is NEVER good with a pup!!

Paper towels.......some things never change. Bogart, 3 years old......LOVES paper towels!
As trained as he is, he still goes for them and I don't think will ever get to the point of just laying around!
I still can't leave a garbage bag around and it's best to keep the waste baskets empty at all times.
The "sounds of silence" OR the "Quick pitter-pat" of nails and him zooming into another room is a sure sign that he has happily discovered something he shouldn't have.
Actually, it's kinda funny. He does relinquish the item to us, but he loves trying to get away with something.
It's funny how they just KNOW they are doing bad! But, like a game it becomes...."Will they catch me or not!!??"
Fortunately, Bogart no longer eats what he steals. He just enjoys ripping it up.
I know....NOT a good thing!
Little quick story.....my husband took Bogart for a hospital visit one day.
Bogart foiund some tissue of some nature on the floor. He picked it up, turned around and deposited it in a nearby waste basket!
OMYGOSH! People were SO impressed! They were telling my husband how GOOD he is! My husband, being shocked told a fib......"Yes! He was trained to do that!"

Layla is the same thing. Anything that is paper, paper towels, paper bags, toilet paper, cardboard, she has to grab, run, and shred! She never eats them tho, just shreds haha.

true..he does have very good house manners ..but, he s such a push-over..

Lucky, the mini-pin is the trouble maker..he s the one who opens the drawers in the kitchen, climbs the drawers to kitchen counter and gets into just about everything..i ve taken to taping all the drawer s shut when leaving the house for just a few minutes..longer i ll feed them to keep an attempt to keep their food drive down..

sooooo..one day i did all the same befor leaving to do some shopping..taped the drawers moved the garbage can to the top of the stove..pushed in all the chairs to the 2 dining tables and then locked all the bedroom doors..

somehow, Lucky talked Toby into standing next to the stove..Lucky must have climped his Toby s back and got onto the stove and knocked the garbage can down..Cuz when i got home i noticed coffee grinds all over the living room floor and the contents of the rest of the garbage spread out thruout the rest of the house..

Wow - taping drawers shut! So far Murphy hasn't tried to open drawers, although she has tried to get into the wooden garbage container we have in the kitchen with the flip out drawer. Today I did notice her standing next to our golden retriever with her paws on the golden's back, looking up at the kitchen counter they sure are smart! Murphy is young enough (4 months) that we crate her when we leave the house, and lately I'll take her for a ride if I just have a short errand to run. We finish level 1 puppy school this week, and level 2 starts in January. For the most part, she is doing really well, although she really doesn't 'drop it' (ball for example) as she knows her 'sister' the golden will get it. Looks like I better do more one-on-one training.
