Default Rocky Update - new picture!!

Here is a little better picture of Rocky! This is the start of his second week here with us and he's definitely made himself at home!!

He started off amazingly calm and lazy - I was starting to get worried - I mean - he's only 5 years old - and he was acting like an OLD dog.... but no - that was only his new home manners - lol - now he's decided he lives here and we are getting the full ROCKY personality!

First off - he is crazy about car rides. He goes on a walk every evening - but he has figured out very quickly when it's time to go in the car and when it's time to go for a walk. He goes for at least two rides a day - one to take the kids to school and one to pick them up. He knows when the backpacks start coming out that it's time to go to school and when I get down the leash - uh oh - you better look out. He does this dance up on his hind legs - it's pretty cute but a little intimdating since he's so big. He doesn't jump up on us - but he is much bigger than my two year old and he's knocked her down a couple times. I just tell him to sit - and he has figured out that until he sits and is still - the leash isn't going on and we aren't leaving. Today - he sat before I had a chance to say it! We try to take him everywhere we possibly can... so he is getting a lot of car riding time - and he's pretty thrilled with that.

Secondly - grooming - same reaction to seeing the brush as seeing the leash. I try to sit down and not let him see the brush until I'm in position to groom him - then he tries to climb in my lap. Poor baby won't fit - but he tries REALLY hard to lay in my lap to be brushed. He adores being groomed - will turn and let you brush every inch of him.

His foster mom told me he is very attracted to the "female energy" as she put it - and boy was she right. Rocky adores me - and my best friend Jessica is at my house a lot with her kids and he adores her too. He is getting along great with my husband too - but it's interesting the difference in his personality when he's with me or Jess and when he's with my husband... when he's with us - he's VERY - ummm - touchy - like he can't get close enough to use - leans on me - lays his head in my lap - rubs against my legs - and he does Jess the same way - but with my husband he's more reserved. James takes him for a walk every evening - him and the boys - so they have their own "guy time" each day.

Anyway - dog psychology - lol - it's fun to try to figure Rocky out. We love him to pieces!! So glad he's here!!

Heather...your stories just make me smile!

Rocky is soooooooooo cute and he obviously has adjusted really well to his new home.
This is EXCITING!! He does all those doodly things and seems to be so well behaved and trained!
I am so HAPPPPPYF FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!

Bogart could care less if it's male or female. Rocky is older than Bogart, however, and annmarie has told me that when he hits 3-4, they start to get a little more protective and clingy? I can't see Bogart as clingy. He does his job and wants his own space. It's like....."OKAY, I let you hug me long enough, now I'm going over here to lie down!"
I've been told that's the poodle in him. But, he just turned 3 and maybe he'll get more cuddly! I HOPE!
