Default Growing doodle.

We had to go to the vet yesterday and McGee weighed in at 65 pounds. Seeing him everyday I just didn't realize he was that big. Not that I had anything concrete to go on but I was expecting him to get to be 55-60 lbs. He's 10 months in a day or two so he may have a little more growing to go!

I wish I would have charted his growth at different ages tho.

AWWWWWWWWW!! He looks so cute in your avatar!

I can't recall what Bogart weighed at his age, but even now at 2 years old......I was shocked to hear he reached 70LBS!
McGee has some growing to do yet. How much did the breeder think he would weigh?
Bogart was suppose to be between 45-55 LBS. He's a solid BLOCK!............lots of muscle going on and I don't think, with the way he is exercised with me that much of that 70 is fat!.......ummmm.........maybe a bit......but I don't know why. I think 65LB would be ideal for him.

McGee is very poodley. Got these long legs and kinda lanky (compared to the lab I grew up with). But he did get the lab food drive, I swear he'll eat anything you put down in front of him.

I think MAX is a distant cousin of McGee except he doesn't have a perm he's the scruffy looking one.

Max is an anorexic 100lb labradoodle with poodle legs and big broad lab build....he can sail thru the air like a ballerina, get up on
a bed (invite only) and you don't feel him at all .....NOW he looks better at 85-90lbs and may eventually go back down?
i am not sure as i had major surgery thus since Thanksgiving 2009 i can't walk/exercise them like i used to but they do
run like the dickens outside while i stand there watching them

I have found that my doodles and friends i know also say same thing: their weight increases between ages 1-2yrs old then
will decrease then around 3yrs to 3.5yrs old increases a bit. Personally i think mine need as their appetites have DECREASED

they don't always eat 2 meals a day ......I know i discussed this with JAC and she too said some of her dogs do the same thing
with eating and weight.

Sounds just like Lucy! She is only 14wks old, but already 23lbs and is very lanky and will eat anything. My dh says she looks like she is on stilts! I had a lab for 11 years and she is looking poodley in her statute too!

Oops ~ I responded twice!

Oh man! You sound like me! Lucy is all legs and even the vet said her name should be legs! She is so lanky, it is what everyone says! Then she eats like she is starving. Now, I had a black lab for 11 years and I have never seen her eat as fast as Lucy! Are you sure that isn't a poodle trait???

I grew up with a black lab and he liked to eat so that's what I was basing that on. I guess all dogs are different.
