Well.... my puppies are NO way mellow like Jac's, mine are little squirmy things!
I have been by myself since early Sat. morning, so no help with pictures, the hardest pics were the little "feetsie's" for Jac & Todd...sorry for the blur... Jac...green collar is the deepest red. The one with no collar is the one with the darker points.. Todd.....these are Red/Red-apricots. Time will tell on their final color. ![]() again.... ![]() Every Single puppy has white between their pads, even the red/red-apricots. No sure what that means in the reds..... One red girl has darker points coming in with the 2 tone foot pads....Parti factor? (or just developing color in their points..) ![]() The other 3 girls have their color coming in an are spotted on their pads too...just more "brownish" colored. There is also a possibly that these gals carry chocolate as it runs in this line.. ![]() This is going to be an interesting litter for me to watch develop? Although this line has thrown pups with large white patches, I don't know if the breeder has bred to a parti to see if they carry. I can't WAIT for them to start wobbling around like Jac's!!!

I am in love with blue. I look forward to seeing more when their eyes open. A question about their pads (the cream ones). Were they all born without pigment and it is comining in at a different rate in some, or were some pigmented and some not at birth. With black/brown pups, they are all pigmented at birth so a pink pad says something in regards to carrying parti, but I dont have experience with cream to know if it is the same.

Oh, isn't this fun!!???
Thanks for the feet pics! First of all, I LOVE their itsy bitsy feet...and secondly, I am having so much fun watching the coloring change. The colors are stunning, Judi...simply stunning! You must be in heaven! I like the green girl's coat best, of the two darker ones...of the lighter ones I like them both. They look like a looser wave. Tell me, with reds, do they get their coloring later, like creams? Blacks are always just born with black points...I would think that reds will develop over time like creams... We ought to check with Kristy...she is the one who told me that the multi colored paws mean parti...I wonder if she meant this early on? I do know that she said that they lose it after a while so you have to check when they are young. Hmmmm... Maureen said that we need to look for "freckles, or ticking" and also spots on the belly and roof of the mouth. None of my pups have those. The first "foot" picture...have you noticed the light chin and neck? Or is that just the flash? Looks like this puppy has different colors, whereas the second foot pic shows solid, dark red. This will be so much fun to follow! |

All the reds were born with pink feetsies... I went back and looked at your pups pads Jac, they were pink too. If you look at them a few days later....the color was coming in just like mine. However.....you have like 3 toes dark & one toe light on the one's pad. Mine are all filled in , no odd toes.
No freckles on the belly or roof of mouth though.... I will call the breeder about the dark pads vs. brownish pads as that is her line & she would know more about it. I do know that this line has chocolate in it. Dad was a nice dark red and faded over time. His nose is somewhat brownish. His brother from the same litter sired this group of Goldendoodles at 1 yr. old... (these are 5 out of 10 of the litter, that have made it to the second round of service dog training for Canine Angels) As you can see.. some will hold their red color, some fade to apricot. I am begining to think the dark nosed one will stay dark & the brownish ones fade.. ![]() this line also carries the rufus gene, that deepens chocolates & reds over time.....sure wish they had a handle on that gene so it could be tested for! Here is a pic of the dads mom as a pup... ![]() And as an adult...on the left.. ![]() and here are 2 of the dads siblings as adults ![]() ![]() I just really want to get a handle on this dark "rufus" gene. There are some beauties out there, mostly the Australians LD's, that I can tell. Most importantly I want the healthy lines, with the service dogs lines... but if I can get that dark Red color in there too, I would be ecstatic!! When I bred and showed English Budgie, my high moment was when I produced a dark Violet one that did excellent when I showed him. The breeder got the bird from couldn't even produce it. I was nice and gave it to her when I stopped breeding.... I so LOVE genetics!! They are so fascinating & frustrating at the same time! Breeding these earlier generation dogs makes it so challenging.

Hi Judi...I do love the pictures of your "relatives"!
This is a great looking line but as you mention, they are also wonderful temperaments...I am so happy for you...and for those of us who might be lucky enough to get one of your pups! My puppies still have the spotted feets! And their dark points are pretty well filled in...so I will be eager to see how the spotting goes over time. |

JUDI.......the Rufus Gene, if you want any info i'll check to see if I have any links still to that though i wonder if doing a search may give you
more UPDATED news. They are NOT sure if it's a single gene or its a combination of how the lineup (of genes) is and thus the agouti then another than you get to rufus. I guess the hardest part for many breeders is to have a red stay a deep red and not lighten up with age. from what i know there is no test for the RUFUS gene (to the public)as i was studying this one myself as my breeder's dogs get "gun dog" red aka toller red just as say a irish setter is red and deepens with age. NOW i always wondered what those black and/or black freckled spots meant on the belly and other areas. I was at a loss to tell my breeder what they really signified. In fact I have one person to ask if their goldendoodle ever did OUTGROW those spots, as many of the puppies lose them but a few keep them even at 4mos old. JAC ......does Maureen have info i could read on this meaning Parti? just curious NOW BACK TO JUDI'S PUPPIES I love all the colors but reds are fun to watch when they're born as at 1st they all appear dark then as they dry you see muddy brownish red, to the creamish red etc and then have to wait longer to see a truer coat color.
