Default Our puppy is a houdini.

Our puppy Aero has perfect, 100% reliable, recall. She comes when called no matter the distraction at top gear warp speed. Great for a 4 month old puppy.

In our yard I can usually see the 3 doods playing from one of 3 windows. Because we have puppies now and then our wood fence has rabbit wire fencing on the inside becasue the tiny pups can squeeze out between the boards which are (stupidly by me) placed 4" apart. Fine for adult doodles, too wide for puppies.

This moring, early, I mean before coffee early, I hear the doods start to bark at something. I open the door and give a whistle to distract them and Hershey and Gus come running, no Aero. I call her, expecting her to come flying through the yard with her perfect recall. Nothing, I am immediately worried. A second call. Aero comes running at full speed, but not from the yard, but from around the wrong side of the house. How the heck . I followed her snowprints around the house to the fence and see that she destroyed the metal rabbit fencing. I guess she decided going through the fence was the straighest line to get to me an where I was calling from than to runn around the house and stay in the yard. Oh the little houdini. She did it again when I got home from work. Tomorrows job #1, buy more fenceboards and seal up that end of the fence.

Who would have thought a puppy could have to strong of a recall. MUST-GET-TO-DAD-ASAP!

Todd, that is cute! Really...she obviously wants to come when you call...fabulous! The fence, not so much. LOL My dogs are great at getting past fencing if they want to. Especially my Moyen Poodle, Dupree. He can climb a 6 foot wooden fence, but only to get to a girl in heat...so we keep them further away than one fenced yard!

Today, just after I was up for two nights, exhausted, not thinking...running on reflex...I went to let my girls out...and Dave had left the garage door open! Yikes! Like a shot they took off! I could hear them down at the barn, taunting the boys, so I got the "doggie cocaine" (freeze died lung), shook the bag and shouted, "I have treats!" Thank goodness the three that escaped are my three that really have no interest in being away from me (or treats) and they came running right back! (Probably with ticks.) There is nothing more sinking than knowing that they are not where they should be and that freedom is a very enticing word.

Glad that little Areo came right to you!

30 fence boards + 1 frozen owner (its freezing rain outside) + using the trucks headlights to see = no more puppy escape's behind the garage. Fence boards were 4" apart, now they are 0" apart. Here's to hoping she doesnt try the front of the yard or I have to go get 200 fenceboards and do the whole thing .

Its just me, my son, and the doods tonight, so I have to wait, put Finn to bed, then go out into the snowing darkness with the baby monitor in my pocket for 2 h and screw. Not looking forward to tonight.

How did it go last night, Todd? Is it all safe and secure now?
I do agree that same day you will see the humor here. But, for now......you have my sympathies. That's a lot of work on a cold winter night and all the responsibilities going on in the house!

TODD.......down the line between your son and your puppies, well you'll be able to sit down and laugh wholeheartedly with memories
that right now might don't seem too funny too you.

NOW AERO HOUDINI, i am waiting to hear of his next episode (not the fence) but these Doodles are smart!
and sometimes tells me your Son will be smarter than Aero.

PS QUESTION........can AERO dig his way under the fence ( couldn't resist this one)
