HI EVERYONE!!!!
3 weeks ago my grandbaby was left alone for just a moment with the other grandmother's sweetest dog my daughter was not there , she was at school at the time. ANYWAY ALIVIA got BIT just missing her eye and most of her eyelid has a scar healing, and the 2 bites on her cheek have healed. WHEW!!!!! NOW in NY STATE you're ONLY ALLOWED ONE BITE!! NOW EVEN MY OWN Max n Peanut LOVE ALVIA but i refuse to let them alone with her for even one second as you never know. UNFORTUNATELY ALIVIA is now scared to death of dogs.......in the future when time passes i'll hopefully help to reintroduce her to them. SHE's fine if she's on my lap HIGH ABOVE DOGS but if she's on the floor or standing she cries pitifully now. She's 10 mos old. LUCKILY alivia will be fine and we're putting vitamin E oil on her scar in high hopes it goes away eventually and relieved her eye (barely missed) is intact.

OH MY!!! I'm so happy to hear that she is okay. And since she is so young, and it sounds like the cut isn't to bad, the scar will fade in time since she has so much growing still left to do.
And since she is so young, I'm sure she'll get over her fear of dogs eventually, with time. Even with the calmest dog, you still can't leave your child alone with the dog. Even if you've been watching them play nicely together for months. You just never really know what your child might do to the dog when you're gone, or how your dog really acts when you're not around. I am still around constantly when Issac is around the boys, just to be safe. |

OMG! Annmarie! How horrible for little Alivia! Of course she is afraid! Imagine...oh, poor baby girl.
I am so glad that she is healing and that the bite missed her eye...but you, and the others, are right...NEVER leave a child alone with a pet...even a beloved, gentle pet. Babies don't understand and may accidentally fall on the pet when they are sleeping or step on a tail...and dogs just react. I am so sorry. Do keep her around your dogs so that she learns that they are not all scary...but now you can teach her to be cautious too. So sad. |

That is such sad news AM. I am very sorry for your precious granddaughter. Its so hard when they ar ethat your that you cant even logic it out with them and explain why it happened.
We are very cautious with Finn and our doods, even though they are all trained to be gentle with each other. They all love each other but all it takes is one mistake, so we never leave them alone. We never leave Finn alone for that matter, todders can get themselves into trouble all by themself in a flash, nver mind with a dog too. |

the dog is a small boxer that has been raised with kids......Alivia was standing up and for some reason the dog turned around
and bit her in the face. No one really knows why but dogs will be dogs........so who knows what really happened. i am just sooooo relieved the dog missed Alivia's eye by less than 1/8th of an inch! whew! NOW in the future to work very slowly with Alivia to not fear Max and Peanut ...they put her in my lap as i can't pick her up at all yet due to surgery.

I'm so happy to hear she's okay.
My sister and I were never bite by a dog, but as kids we were both deathly afraid of dogs. Especially those the size of a doodle. Basically anything larger than 10 lbs sent us running. My mom was very patient - and eventually (around age 10) we LOVED dogs. I still remember our first family bet - Brutus, a big ole black lab mix mutt. And now I have 2 doodles, my sister owns a little wiener dog mix and we can't get enough of the doggies. |
