Thanks for the kind words. She is an apricot colour - the photo was taken in the evening and the flash makes her look a bit darker. Although pretty, her coat is actually a lot of work - she mats easily and I have yet to find a brush that doesn't pull.
I think Finley's coat will be easier - his hair seems to be straighter and flatter. |

Ozzie's hair is just that! Hair....not fur. It's like brushing a person's head....just much larger!

Ozzie looks like a really sweetie. I love his name too!
I wish my Sadie was more like Ozzie. She in fact HATES being brushed. I think the brush really pulls and hurts her. I have tried lots of different brushes, including an expensive les pooches brush, but they all pull on her tight curls. And none of them seem to get right down the the skin, so the mats form underneath her top coat and sneak up on us. |

About brushing, I use a rake that has spinning teeth. It helps not to pull so much. I hate slicker brushes because they just make them fuzzy. The rake "combs" rather than brushes and if you do it correctly, it won't pull so much. (My dogs are fine until I get to their legs...they hate me to brush their legs!) There is a video that shows how to brush to the skin...until I learned that I could never get rid of mats and it pulled their coat...but if you use the technique in the film, it helps a lot...plus you can use special conditioners for the coat that help... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szIij_zknNs By the way...Sully, in this video (the sweet, darling dog that he is) is very, very ill...he is being treated and everyone is praying...if you want more info check out the Doodle Zoo and search for Sully... but if you just feel moved to, remember Sully in your thoughts and prayers... |

Thanks - the video is quite helpful. I wish Sadie would be as patient and cooperative as Sully, but she REALLY does not enjoy being brushed.
She is frightened of any kind of spray conditioner, so we don't use that on her, even though it might be a good detangling aid. My thoughts are with sweet Sully at this time and I hope he will make a full and speedy recovery. |
