Been a while since I've visited here...hope everyone is well! Love browsing through all the pics!
Here's an update on Ziggy's life since our last visit...he makes life interesting! Ziggy was in daycare since last May...he really liked it, he's a big fan of making friends with everyone. At the end of November, I picked him up from daycare and he was really tired...although that was normal cause it usually wore him out so I didn't think much of it. We get in the car and go directly home. I was getting ready to go play kickball (big sport here in the Midwest) and was going to be gone for 3 hours...so before I was going to leave, I was going to give him a quick walk around the block. As I go to put his leash on, I notice blood running down his leg and some on his under-belly. I bend down further and he has a hole in his under-belly. It was the most awful feeling ever. He looked so sad and I felt awful for not noticing it earlier...I believe the daycare place tried to hide it from me. There was no blood on him when we left the daycare place...but I believe they cleaned it up and used the blood stop stuff as a temporary fix...hence I didn't see it and then he probably licked it. He had no other interaction with a dog after daycare, only me and I didn't bend down and take a bite of him. I was so upset cause I signed a waiver that I'd pay for any vet bills, knowing that a bite could happen in daycare. My husband was at a work dinner and he left to take Ziggy to the hospital with me. He had a pretty nasty dogbite, needed stitches and had to have a tube through his skin to drain any possible bacteria that could cause an abcess. He was a conehead for 2 weeks but he made it through that rough patch. After calling the daycare to report it, they denied it at first but then said they may have missed it. Total and complete negligence...so, if anyone lives in the Milwaukee area, beware of Central Bark in the Menomonee Valley. Thankfully Ziggy has not been tainted by this experience at all, he's just as loving as he was before toward dogs & humans. Wanted to post this pic during the holidays...but better late than never Happy Holidays from Ziggy: ![]() We got some snow...he really likes the snow: ![]() Captain Snowbeard ![]() Navigating the paths we made in our yard Watch me play with my ball(this should be a video but I'm not sure how to post a video so hope this is right): ![]() Take care everyone! |

awwwww! Poor guy! Doodles are such quiet patients, aren't they? They tell you more with their eyes than they do complaining. Sweet baby. I hope he's back on the mend. Ozzie wanted me to tell you that he thinks Ziggy is a most handsome pooch! He thought he was looking into a mirror!

Hi Ziggy!!! Good to see you again! You are all grown up...and such a handsome young man!
I felt just sick inside as I read about Ziggy's wound...I am so sorry! Yes, accidents happen...but in a day care center if they were not aware of a DOG FIGHT something is terribly wrong with the way they supervise the dogs! I would be furious! Glad that he is getting better and especially glad that he is not afraid...what a trouper! Great, great pics and video! Thanks! |

Even if you signed a waiver, I would try to get them to apy the bill. They have a responsibility for providing a safe environment in order for you to accept that accidents may happen, and the fact that they hid it makes me think they have somthing to hide about their standard of care. They may pay ti to avoid the negative publicity, since you could write an editorial for your local paper about your experience.

Thanks for the support...we've opted not to take legal action against them. Initially I wanted to but my husband talked me out of it. We've decided to not go back there and spread the word about their negligence. The hassle of suing them isn't worth it for us...and we're hoping it'll give us good karma
@ Hnybny - Ozzie looks so much like Ziggy, so handsome |

Kim, I understand your decision...and you are making a good choice...
May I suggest that you write to the day care and tell them that you will not return and why...and add a note that you are putting them on notice that there is a problem. That way, if there is an attack there and another dog is hurt...they can't say that they didn't know. Keep a copy of your letter...so that if it ever does come to some sort of law suit (for someone else) there is evidence that they were put on notice. (Can you tell I have a law background? LOL) |
