Note to self - actually listen to the news when it says to keep facets dripping to prevent frozen pipes.
I didn't listen and TA-DA no water in my house because the pipes underneath the house are frozen solid. Really nice thing to come home to after a busy Friday at work. We have had record setting low temps here lately. THANKFULLY tomorrow is finally supposed to break above freezing, so hopefully the pipes will thaw and I'll have water again. Friday & Saturday morning the doods had bottled water to drink. Saturday afternoon the outside facet by the shed finally unfroze and we have that water at least. Plumber says that the only thing we can do is wait for the pipes to thaw. UGH. Never thought I'd have to call my Mom and ask if I could borrow her shower. LOL. |

Hahahahaha...what a heat wave, seeing as how it was 6 degrees when I got up this morning!! Hope your pipes have thawed by the time you read this!

I'm in Oklahoma. We a 3 degree morning today, BUT warmed up to 36 here...WHOOOHOOO - Heat wave! And the pipes thawed about 4:00 today!!! I came home and tried my facet and it actually worked! Sorry doods but you're back to regular ole tap water! LOL. I never realized how much they drink until I'm actually having to BUY the water for them.
I think they were happy though, Saturday is usually bath day, no water means no bath. They're still filthy. And yep my facets are dripping constantly now. I learned by lesson. |

LiZ.........do you have your pipes underneath the house wrapped w/insulation?
or when temp dip really low you can leave a faucet dripping it helps to have just enough movement in the pipes that the water wont freeze. I learned this the hard years ago when i lived on Lake Erie and i too had to ask a neighbor to shower at their house and vice versa. It's the PITS!

Can you put a small electric heater under your house to thaw the pipes?
I remember living on bottled water...for 2 weeks! It was our well pump that was contaminated so they had to shock the well and we couldn't use the water...we rented a local motel to shower! Good luck! |
