Default Blizzard '09 in Oklahoma

Well Christmas Eve brought heavy rains, than sleet, than 8+ inches of snow!!!! First EVER 'official' Blizzard in my County. And what a day it was, first part of the day, my back yard was literally a pond and the doods had about a 3 ft. by 3 ft. area to go to the bathroom in, everytime they'd go outside to pee they got completely muddy - bout 2 hours later, the wind started blowing at about 45 mph and sleet. Doods decided it was best to hold it, because dang it, that sleet HURT. Couple more hours go by and the wind is still blowing hard - white-out conditions, but snow is following and Samson decided that snow is freaking AWESOME! And worth it to go outside and pee. Henry still not to sure, but dang it he needed to go potty too.

By the end of it, we had 8 inches of snow - about an inch of ice from the sleet under that - and in spot were the rain had gathered, a lot more ice. We had our first White Christmas since I can remember and I tell ya what I'm ready for it to be GONE!!! Driving 20 mph to all the houses we had to visit for Christmas was a pain in the rear. On the plus side - snow means when the doods come in, they just get the floor wet, not muddy. Now when it all starts to melt, I'm going to have some muddy floors again. LOL! We're suppose to get another 2 inches tomorrow night. And with the days staying just at freezing - and the nights well below it, I don't think the snow is going away anytime soon. BLAH!!!!

OH and I almost forgot - when the sleet was falling w/ the 45 mph winds it beat against the windows of my house. Samson HATED it, barked his head off for a good hour, just barking and growling at the window.

LOL poor Toby! Samson loved the snow, Henry liked it okay but would be much happier inside. Henry would pee right outside the back door and want back in immediately. Had to teach Issac about the yellow snow.

We are supposed to get 2 more inches tomorrow night. JOY. *sigh*

Boyfriend's brother is an animal control officer in a town close to me, in the blizzard he had to go rescue a dog that was tied outside w/ absolutely no shelter. I'm talking 20 degree weather, 45 mph winds and snow. And these owners left their dog outside in that with no protection. UGH!

Oh, my gosh! What a storm! Sounds like the weatherman really broke your dogs into the winter season!
Yep, mud. I know what you mean!

I hope that those people never get that dog back! Doesn't that just defy logic??? What selfish, mean people! grrrr!
