Default Thanksgiving Snow

when we went to the lake for Thanksgiving, we went on one of Dakota’s very favorite annual jaunts—Christmas tree cutting!! (We don’t get a tree ourselves but we love “tagging along”)

And this year there was snow!! Lot’s of snow!!! There was a caravan of about 6 trucks. We had Dakota’s best pal Barney with us. We saw right away that the usual trek half up to the lookout was NOT a good idea and we stopped at the turnoff—one other truck stopped with us!! (The others returned shortly—AFTER they got the lead truck unstuck!)

We let Dakota and Barney out to play and PLAY THEY DID!!!!
Dakota was sooooo excited about all the snow! He ran way up the road and I called him back! He ran back as fast as he could!! I could tell I was in trouble about 5 seconds before he slammed into me!! Yikes—he knocked me back on my butt about five feet!

Here he comes!!!!!

This is the view about 1 second before you get body-slammed!!!

I was really cringing and holding my breath with Dakota’s jumping and twisting (after he injured himself last year) but he’s unstoppable and, thankfully, all went fine!!
No tennis balls, just snow balls—but Dakota didn’t mind . . . clap

Getting ready!! –Look at that intensity!! This is serious business!

“I got it!! I got it!!”

And just ‘cuz they’re pals, here’s a double!!

Dakota LOVES playing with the kids too!! Here he and Barney are trying to figure out how join in a wrestling match!

Then Dakota found a great playmate that he had all to himself! cancan

After a long, playful afternoon, it was time to crash!!!!! Can’t wait to go back up for Christmas!

oh those are absolutely precious pictures!!!!! He looks like he has quite a head of steam in that run. Looks just like Ozzie with the leaping and jumping!!! I love it! We had just a light dusting of snow today and he just came in from outside. He was running on the deck with his "squeeky" and all 4 paws just slid!!! He looked at me as if to say "what the heck! Why did you let that happen"!!! I would love to try him with those little doggy booties so it would allow him to play outside longer but I don't know if he'd leave them on. I may get him a pair for Christmas and sit back and watch the show! haha He may just dance around like he has sticky-feet. I will definitely have the camera at the ready.

I was contemplating ordering some boots for Dakota because his feet get "snowballed" and also he has been licking his paws a lot after running--which he is always doing. Someone, I believe it was Jac, recommended Musher's Secret--a wax that acts like invisible boots. I decided I would probably have more luck with that than with boots, so I ordered a pound--I'll let you know how it works!
