Default We start DR.PAWS on Monday!:)PASSED WOOHOO

I have been putting this off but FINALLY we will start this on Monday!
Although Bogart can go anywhere, this program will give him even more access to schools, hospitals etc.
Also,it is required for a small fee, that each dog be insured. The insurance is up to a million if anything should ever happen.
I think of the elderly who sometimes have paper thin skin and how easy it is to tear it with just the touch of a dogs nail. So, I see this as a great idea!
Bogart's vest is already looking like he's a BOY SCOUT! He has all sorts of merit badges........maybe one for COOKING next?
Here is the website.

OH! It's THREE MILLION!!
Here is a video of Dr.Paws dogs at work.........so heartwarming!
Bogart already does this, but this program will even further assist us and provide the insurance for a small fee!

Linda that is Awesome!! And Bogie is just so perfect for that type of program. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I really admire those that do volunteering with the elderly.

It's really so JOYFUL! When I consider what I have gone through in life to deserve a Service Dog, it makes all the pain worthwhile in a way. As a result, I have a very special dog! So, I want to share! It just makes all things so much better when I can help bring JOY to the old and young! Thanks!

Well good job Linda!!!! I think we sometimes forget how difficult it can be for our elderly citizens in a nursing home. Away from their home, their friends and neighbors. With some of the elderly I work with, it can be a very frustrating, complicated time for them. It might seem like a little gesture, bringing a service dog in to be petted, but really it's not. It's a HUGE thing. A dog is a constant companion, a sweet, loving dog is never a stranger - and the service dog will love on you no matter how you smell that day, or look. Really we could learn a lot from watching a service dog about how we should treat each other.

I could go on and on - but I think we all know our doodles are terrific service dogs, even if they aren't technically 'service dogs'. I think it's great that you're sharing how wonderful Bogie makes you feel with others!

Bogart passed his first evaluation with FLYING COLORS!!! It was AWESOME! The guide was highly impressed! It was done at Oakland University.
He was being observed in the presence of a greyhound (the guides dog) who he soooo wanted to PLAY with! Yet, he maintained his cool and we watched a video and chatted for the first 1/2 hour or so. He laid there like a pro!
Then we walked around meeting professors, doing stairs and elevators. He was SO GOOD!!! He was greeted by so many people and did excellent! I am a PROUD MAMA!

The guide wants to get this done fast so he can get going. So, we meet at a local convalescent home next Tuesday.
One more after that and we send all the papers in for his tags and he is now going to be not only a Service Dog for me, but a certified THERAPY DOG!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!

OH!! The insurance is now FIVE MILLION...for like $27 a YEAR!

Congratulations! In the UK we have PAT dogs (Pets as Therapy) but the test to get in is notoriously hard. I may think of having a go with mine when they're a bit older but it also takes up quite a bit of time which I don't have a lot of at the mo. But well done again, it is such great work. xxx

Oh annmarie! The ROOMBA video!! You remembered!! He was such a little pistol! .....and still CAN be ripping up towels at the groomer! :P
He really has come a long way.

LeeBeth.......I have some old pictures of him in his Training Vest. I need to get pics of him in is SD vest.
We're not sure we're going to get a Therapy vest, however. All he needs to have for EVERY visit is the Red Heart Therapy tag.
But, ya never know! We just might!
