Default Ozzie the ambassador

I just thought I would share a little story involving Ozzie. Our neighbor's two young grandsons have been extremely afraid of dogs - large or small. When they would see us taking Ozzie out on his leash they would cry and run into the house and not come out until Ozzie was back inside. This has gone on for over a year now but we keep trying to assure the boys that he won't hurt them. Maybe it's because he's so big. Little bit by little bit the older boy, age 7, has been getting a little bold and would sit in a chair about 8 feet from where Ozzie was tethered to his run. He would just sit there and talk to him and show him pictures! Today my husband had Ozzie out in the back yard, off leash, playing catch and fetch with his squeeky. Unknown to Kenny the boys were over next door and playing outside. All of a sudden Ozzie took off, squeeky in his mouth, and went right up to the older boy and gave him his toy to throw. After the initial surprise of him running up to him he started getting more and more comfortable with him. The next thing we knew he was out there playing with Ozzie and loving every minute of it!!! I was so proud of my pony-sized doodle!!! He played himself into a good nap which is what he is doing right now beside me on the couch. He's come so far and I love him more and more every day!!!! I just thought I would share my story.

This is so cute...I love stories like this! Doodles are so unique and friendly...so goofy and unassuming...you can't help but warm up to them!

Good boy, Ozzie!

Ozzie just thinks he's small! Trust me...he's anything BUT small. He weighs 73 pounds and can rest his head on the dining room table without stretching. I would laugh when I tell people he has an inseam measurement!!! He doesn't have a lot of girth but he has height and length! Plus, he can do a 4' verticle jump without even trying!!! I've had to resort to putting his squeeky up on top of the refrigerator. He doesn't know it but he could get it if he wants it.

HOW FUNNY!!!

And what a good boy he is! Doodles are terrific with kids. I always get comments about how huge my dogs are. . . I really don't think they're that big, I mean have you seen a Great Dane or a Mastiff?!?!?! Now those dogs are BIG. Doodles are just the perfect size.

I used to think I wanted a smaller dog before we got him. Once we brought him home I got used to his size and now I wouldn't have him any other way!!! He's big, he's cuddly, he's lovable, he's Ozzie! Unless someone mentions how big he is I don't think about it. I'm just glad we have a big couch and I have a big lap because he likes to curl up on both!!! We haven't told him how big he is. He just thinks he's a little lap dog.

LOL Samson thinks he's a lap dog and will TRY to climb right up on my lap. He doesn't exactly fit though, so he just lays half his body over me. Boyfriend has a 2 lbs teacup chichua (sp?) Taco-Bell Dog Talk about SIZE DIFFERENCE.

What's funny is boyfriend's taco-bell dog annoys me if she's sleeping in the bed. She always sleeps in the most ackward position that makes me uncomfortable. Now, if 65 lbs Samson comes and sleeps with me, laying his whole body on me, I feel warm and comfy. One thing I do like about the teacup taco bell dog - 20 lbs bag of kibble last more than a month with her! LOL.

Oh, me too! I used to love the tiny dogs...especially the Yorkies and Poodle crosses that were small...actually, big dogs scared me! Now look at me...a whole pack of 'em...and I could not be happier! I absolutely love that I can really hug my dogs and that they enjoy it! No gentle pats for my babies...nosiree...

This story melts my HEART!! Just knowing how fabulous doodles are with kids, I find it so hilarious when they finally break down and reach out and touch one!
Usually the go for the hind end.....the furthest from the teeth! :P
In this case, Ozzie had enough of this ignoring and fear and said to himself, "HEY! We're gonna play already! Here I COME! Ready or not!"
I LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing!
