Default Jealousy maybe?

Not sure if this is jealousy or just Samson trying to show his love but he's been doing something new lately:

There are a few 'prized' toys in the house. Ones that both dogs want at the same time. Well Samson has started taking the toy from Henry and bringing it to me. Samson just puts it by my hands and than will come sit next to me looking for some love. If Henry comes and takes it from me, Samson gets down, takes it from him and brings it back to me, hops back up for some love.

Is it jealousy or is it just Samson trying to show me he loves me by bringing me the most prized toy in the house? The entire time he's doing this he does not even attempt to play with the toy or take it from me until I put it away.

Henry lets Samson take any toy from him without any fight. Henry will just wait around for Samson to drop it and move on to the next toy. So this isn't a problem situation or anything, was just wondering why Samson would have started doing it. Henry has NEVER given me any toy though unless it's a tennis ball he wants me to throw for fetch.

Oh, that is so sweet! I think it is a prized possession that he is sharing with you...and that is so touching!
You are lucky that he drops it in your lap...my dogs try to put it in my mouth!

LOL Jac yeah I think I'd have a problem if he was trying to stick it in my mouth. Samson is certainly my snuggle bug in the house - he has a much calmer demeanor than Henry. Henry has the 'lost puppy dog' syndrome though and just follows me around the house and plops down wherever I'm at. Doing the dishes, he's right behind me laying down. Going to the bathroom, he's waiting right outside the door. My velcro puppy.

that's funny! Henry sounds a lot like Ozzie. He likes to bring me his toys. Sometimes he will get his favorite chew bone and sit beside me so I can hold it while he chews on it!!!! I just give him that "mom look" as if to say "who was your slave last year?" Of course he would give me his look as if to say "why...it was you mom. Don't you remember?" Whenever I stop for more than 3 minutes he is right beside or behind me laying patiently. If I'm in the bathroom he will come in and stand with his butt beside me waiting for a good butt rub. haha. When I close the door to get a shower he will be waiting for me when I open the door. He's just the most lovable thing!!! We are having issues with his bad habits that were ingrained before we got him. His first "custodians" (we don't call them his parents because they treated him so badly) did absolutely NO training at all with him and it has been a slow go trying to un-train bad behavior. We just stay patient and hope he figures it out. He's come so far though I really can't complain. I would say as long as there isn't any aggressive behavior associated with him bringing you the toy I would just smile and say Thank You!

This is so tender...thank you for posting...Ozzie is a sweet boy and I love his pictures...such personality!
Have you tried clicker training him? It really is a great way to train. http://www.clickertraining.com/

Ozzie sounds so adorable!! Both my guys are rescues - and you're absolutely right, lots of patience, love, and the right training tools (like the clicker training) Ozzie will work out those bad habits. And figuring out what REALLY motivates him. Samson prefers tons of love and pets and hugs - Henry prefers some type of special food treat.

the jealousy part..i usually let the dogs work it out among themselves..

min-pin gets to sleep with me..the saluki not as needy and just gets a few hugs
throughout the day..and Toby gets to visit the senior home an hr a day..along
with his training class s..

the min-pin is the only one who has tried to impress me by bring in dead birds and
garner snakes ..
