Ozzie has a tongue the size of a giraffe's!!!! He insists on licking whatever, and whenever he sees an opportunity like your arm pit, the inside of your ears, the inside of your nose, or any other exposed skin he can get to!!! haha And that is all before I even get out of bed in the morning. It certainly works better than any alarm clock I could buy. He doesn't have a "snooze button" on his tongue.

Samson is my licker - except he won't lick my face, just any other part of me, including my clothes. I taught 'leave me', like the leave it command basically. He knows to stop when I say that and just let me pet him. I can only take so much licking!

hahahahaha...that is cute!
My dogs knows two commands..."Go play" or "Go lay down" ... and they both mean the same thing... "Okay, now leave me alone!" and they try their best to obey...for a minute or two. |

sometimes I think Ozzie licks just to get my attention. It sure does work but it usually is the wrong attention. He will stop and just look at me like I have 3 noses!!! He can't figure out what the problem is. I have to admit that when he's in a cuddly mood he will look up and just very gently lick the tip of my nose and that will be all. Hard to tell what goes through that head.

Part of the social language of dogs is licking faces...they also like to groom their pack members by licking their ears, eyes, feet...
So, as annoying as it seems, it is really pretty normal...puppies actually lick their mother's face when the mother is weaning them...and it causes her to regurgitate food for them...and after that, they do it as a loving touch for their mothers and for the others in the pack when they respect them...of if they want them to like them. Cute, huh? It's all about love. |
