We took McGee out to see my gf's mom on Halloween and she was keeping my gf's sister's dog, Axle. Axle is a Boston Terrier who loves everything and everybody and wouldn't hurt a thing, but he is 100 mph all the time, and this was McGee's first time really being around another dog. Although they are roughly the same size length x width x heigth, Axle is a couple years old and is basically a solid muscle, so he has a big mass advantage. So the first time McGee got close enough to play they took off around the couch and made about half a lap before Axle 'nudged' and rolled McGee a couple times so McGee was scared and basically shut down for a while after that. You could see his tail go down whenever Axle would get near him, plus Axle was sniffing him every couple minutes and McGee didn't like that either after a while. I kept them separated for a while because I didn't want McGee to get scared and snap or do anything that would cause Axle to come back at him. After about 20 minutes of watching Axle chase the ball around you could tell McGee wanted to get back in there and play, but still every time Axle would turn towards him he would shy away, but he still got knocked around a couple more times. Finally we got Axle just running around with the ball and McGee would chase him and they seemed to enjoy that. They even got to the point where McGee would come up behind and nip at Axle, but when Axle would turn McGee would run away.
I think I need to find calmer friends for now.

AWWW I can just see McGee (so happy I read your post about Captain being McGee BTW LOL) coming up - nipping - and turning tail and running.
Maybe a calmer friend would be good to start out with. But I bet with a lil' more socialization he'll be able to play with Axle. |

We need pics next time!!! Actually, Dakota will shy away from a really assertive player . . . unless, that is, the "player" makes a play for Dakota's ball!!!!!

Sorry if explained it wrong. Axle is a regular sized Boston, but McGee is still a puppy so they're roughly the same height and length. 15 inches tall, give or take a couple, but Axle prolly has at least 15-20 pounds on McGee.
