60% success but she gets and A from me!!
I have waited this time to get a better success rate from Tia and I think she has reached the 60% rate!!! What am I talking about? Well for a year and a half I have been trying everything to get Tia to let go of Buddy's neck when they play. She really hurts him. He is an instigator but her play has left teeth marks on his neck. Tia has reached about 60% in her minding me to let go or to be easy!!! I started out using treats but that stopped the play all together. So I decided to use only words and lots of praise. She minds me a lot now, even in the heat of battle, so to speak. The other thing I have been trying to remember to do (suggested by Annmarie) is to never let them go through any door before me. I am now doing some other things suggested by Annmarie and putting it all together seems to be working! I am so proud of Tia and she gets and A from me.
Everyone says that these doods and doodets (sp?) are very smart, but in this one area only I thought she was not so smart. What I have discovered is Tia is smarter than I am!!! I am (with the help of Annmarie) getting smarter though. I have to give a lot of credit to the forum full of very smart people too. Thanks everyone!!!
