UGH - day 5 post neutering and Samson finally decided he has had enough of staying calm - came home yesterday and he had DESTROYED his chewies - got into a trash can and spread it everywhere. I had left him in a more open area since he's been cooped up so much.
BLAH so I'm heading to the store today to buy more chewies because when I say DESTROYED, I literally mean destroyed. Even his favorite "fetch" toy |

Awww...poor Samson...it'll be over beforw you know it....whatever you do, don't throw away the carcas's...we all have basketfulls, and the Doods just love them!!! Do a search on carcas's (sp?) or destuffing and you'll see what I mean..
I also scour yard sales looking for small stuffed animals without plastic eyes, and fiberfilled..you can pick them up for .50 or so...a heck of a lot cheaper that the pet stores, and if they're going to destuff them, it might as well be something inexpensive!!!

Heck yeah that's for the advice about gargage sales. Our local Goodwill always have tons of stuffed toys for cheap!
I threw away some of the carcases already . . . but not of his favorite fetch toy. I'll have to remember to keep that one around! 10 or so minutes of supervised outside play time wouldn't hurt would it? LOL I'm going to pull my hair out soon if he can't run out some energy and I'm sure he's about to do the same. |

I think that he can resume some of his activity...just don't let him play rough with other dogs and no jumping in the air...a good walk would be great for him. Is he licking and trying to scratch or is he okay with a cone on? The licking is the toughest part...hope it goes okay for you both!
Hang in there...you are half way! They sell toys without stuffing now! http://www.fuzzywumpets.com/item_32/Emp ... g-Toys.htm |

Great link Jac!
I let him play a bit outside yesterday - it calmed him down a lot. And we did the cone thing for the first day - but I took it off the next day for dinner, forgot to put it back on and noticed he wasn't licking or scratching it, so it's been off since. He's really stayed away from that area. I check the incision a few times daily and it's looking great!! No redness or swelling. He really hated the cone so I figured if the incision is looking fine - I don't see him licking or scratching than might as well leave the cone off. Hair is already going back in. Doesn't seem to bother him to much. He's to busy destuffing toys to notice! LOL!! |
