Ahhhhhhhhhhhgggggggggggggggggggg
Forgive my rude introduction, I really am annoyed, why do people feel it is there right to comment and criticise my attempt to train a wonderful dog. My mother in law has not had a dog for nearly 15 years but feels that she has a PHD in dog rearing and training? I should leave Bobby when he cries at night for the toilet as he should be able to hold his bladder? HE IS 9WKS OLD?????? Apparently they never had to do it, they probably had to mop up pee and poo all the while and there's wasn't crated??? I should not feel I have to stay home with him?? Again he is 9wks old, would i leave a 9wk old baby home alone, no!!! As I am on annual leave, where would i rather be than home with my babies? Forgive my rant, but you can't say all this to either hubby or his mum, mot worht the hassle. Good morning xxxx

Everybody has different advice. Advice I receive here is well thought out, advice from experience, and I love it!!!!
Advice in the world outside this forum, I usually don't argue, just grin, nodd and walk away or change the subject. |

Hang in there! I went through the same thing b/c my MIL has always had dogs and Boyd is my first one. Oh, the looks I got when I excitedly announced I was getting a dog. What? They asked. But both of you work full time, they're a lot of work, your house will get dirty, etc, etc. Like you, I took a week off from work to get Boyd acclimated to his crate and left him for gradually longer increments of time so he would not get separation anxiety. I hired a dog walker and put him in daycare to get socialized.
Now my in-laws can't say enough about what a sweet dog he is and so well behaved.

hahahaha...imagine what my family says when I say that Dave and I can't attend important events together...because ONE of us has to stay with the dogs! We get a lot of "They're dogs! Put them in a kennel!" But we just say, "We don't kennel our dogs, I am sorry that we can't both be there but ... will come."
Some of our family has stopped visiting us all together...because of our dogs. So? Their loss! hahaha We don't argue with them. We don't correct them. We just do what we do. Now, they sort of just roll their eyes... Annmarie is right...lie...it makes them feel good, and it give you a "secret" between you and your hubby! |

Hello All,
I've been away far too long. I understand how you feel. When we got Remy, my husband told his parents that if our baby wasn't welcome at their house that we would be visiting a whole lot less. Remy comes with us all the time. Finding appropriate daycare and boarding can be a challenge, we only need it a couple of times a year. Now even my husband's cousins are inviting Remy to come with us to Philly when we visit. it is great. Regarding the "wonderful" advice, Nod your head, smile and do what you think is right. And as always if your not sure, you can ask your questions here.
