Default "Fun" afternoon walk

I took the doodles for a long walk after work. We had 2 interesting encounters

1) We passed a guy running with his dog (dog on a retractable). I realized this is the first time we've ever encountered a runner with a dog. Both dogs went absolutely nuts. Kirby was like a possessed dog (leaping in the air, making sounds I've never heard before). Dexter surprised me because rarely reacts, so here I am with 2 totally out of control doodles feeling very . Lucky me got to pass this same guy and his dog (running) 2 additional times . Things got better (Dex barely reacted the 2nd 2 times and Kirby only threw mild fits).
2) We arrived home and the "neighborhood" cat (i.e cat who just wanders our neighborhood) was sitting right at the gate to our fence. Of course the doodles see him/her before I do and take off after the cat. The cat sprints to our neighbor's and there am I being pulled uncontrollably by a combined 110 lbs of doodle . Luckily we ran (literally) into an evergreen tree and that stopped them. I was lucky to escape with just some brush burn on my hand.

I think it's time for a nice glass of wine

Well, there is just nothing like an after-work walk to help you unwind, is there?

I like the description of the "combined 110 pounds of doodle"! When the doodles have their momentary flare-ups of acting crazy, don't you feel like saying, "Wait, really... they are actually very well-mannered and sweet dogs. Honest, Dexter is even a CGC dog!"

But when you are about to slam into a pine tree, I suppose there is no time for explaining. Hope you were able to get that wine.

I am glad you made it through the excitement ok, my wife broke her ankle walking two dogs when a chipmunk ran by and the dogs pulled her over.

oh wow, that brings back memories. I used to take my 120 pound Chesapeke Bay Retriever (he has since passed away) everywhere with me, he was a great dog and I rarely kept him on a lead, but one day I took him fishing with me and the place we went had a requirement that all dogs be kept on leash. I hooked his leash to my belt so that my hands were free, and the second that I cast my line I realized it was an 'oh crap* moment' because he was used to retrieving anything that I would throw in the water..sure enough off he goes, into and under the water to get the lure, and guess who was right behind him -on the other end of the leash...

sorry I can just see that and too bad no one was around videoing the lake/river at that time, you for sure would have won the $10,000 for the funniest video

My goodness! I can relate. My dogs have their moments together while reacting to one thing or another... we have more than one roaming can in our neighborhood That is why I use the plastic pinch... we have muddy paths that are often soaked so I could easily be slip-sliding down the path with my doodles merrily chasing a cat or a squirrel!

I'm glad you are ok... two doodles can def be enough power to tow my car!

Oh they did have their GLs on There was no hope of stopping that doodle train though - they would have pulled me anywhere. In retrospect i probably should have dropped the leashes - the back of my neighbor's yard is fenced in.

After all that excitement, they slept (completely passed out) the entire night (6-11 pm) - I try to look for the silver lining

Got to watch those roaming cans. They can get rowdy. (sorry, couldn't resit. It's Friday.)

Glad you're ok, Leslie.

Sorry it was late when I posted! But I have actually had my dogs look sideways, bark and growl at perfectly normal things like cans!
