Default Pet treats recalled by PetSmart

For the love of God! The peanut butter recall has trickled over to pet treats:

Thanks for posting this. I heard it on our news last night and was going to post it too. They said for people, only eat the peanut butter in the jars. It seems they have decided the jar kind is safe now but nothing in dog treats, or in things like crackers and cookie filling. They said this goes for the peanut butter made since early last year. Boy what next! Makes me wish we had a reputable butcher near so I could go RAW. It is one thing in my mind if I get sick from something I buy, but it is terrible to me if I give the dogs something bad and they get ill!

That is one of the reasons we went RAW. I get all my meat from the grocery store. I don't have any butchers in the area. I just scouted out beef tongue, heart, and intestine at Walmart. I was so excited!!! (Not badly priced either. A little over a $1 per pound). They also carry ox tail!!! My girls will be eatin good once they move on to beef. (We are just gearing up for pork)

After I posted the recall notice on the chicken jerky on the General Chat forum, Judi posted a link to a website with some great doggie recipes :

One of the easiest is for peanut butter biscuits - they were very easy to make, too. Tyke LOVES peanut butter, so at least I feel safer knowing hers came from a jar!

I was reading the recipes...one of them calls for onion powder. I thought onions were a bad thing for dogs?

Maybe they don't know. I would not use that! I guess that is why we have to read all of the ingredients in everything! I wonder if powdering them changes them somehow? I am afraid I would not try it until you know for sure.

If the onion powder isn't bad for them, it sure would be bad for US! I'd hate to be in the same room with them when they started passing gas!

I think I'd leave it out too, just to be on the safe side.
