Just a WEE bit of snow for Tyke

But it was enough to get her really excited!!! (and me too!) By the time I got home from work in Orangeburg, it was actually snowing harder in Walterboro (about an hour southeast of O'burg)! Tyke and I jumped in the car and headed down the hill to the Great Swamp Sanctuary! I know some of you snow veterans might laugh at our excitement at this little "dusting" but it hasn't snowed here in at least 5 years! (not even a flurry!)

Here's the "yacht basin", as we call the canoe launching area in the Swamp:

C'MON, MOM, LEMME OUT!!!

Trying to eat the snow off the leaves (at least it wasn't yellow!)

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep...." (if you look closely, you'll see snow on the leaves)

Somehow, I don't think the gators will be a problem today....

Although, this IS where this guy lives now! (I'll never forget my eventful rescue of him!!!) Hope he's found a nice warm hole to hibernate in for the winter!!!

Here's one from our backyard...you don't often see loquat trees and azaleas covered with snow....

Tyke went a little crazy, trying to catch snowflakes as they hit the car's windshield, and doing a doodle 500 or two in the backyard....

Even though it wasn't much snow, it was Tyke's first, and that made it special!!!
She can't wait for the next one!!

You have to know I am sooo jealoous! I'm just a hop, skip and a jump from you and I saw one lousy flake. Dang!

I'm glad your sweetie Tyke had a good time! Even though it sounds like it was more you than Tyke having fun!

I think you are right! Tyke did enjoy trying to catch the fat flakes, and was barking at them in the car on the way home, but I think it was the cold air as much as anything that made her so frisky! My sister in Charlotte didn't get any snow either, but we did....go figure!

Gene - don't tempt us...she's had her first taste of snow now - Tyke may decide to head your way!!!

AB, did you and your mom get any snow out of this? I heard there was a good bit in Asheville!

Tyke, we only had what Mommy calls a "dusting" of snow early this am, I think you guys got more snow than we did I sure would love to have all the snow that Gene and his Kids have

BaBa and I were trying to remember the last snowfall of ANY kind we had here....Tindy Lou had never seen snow until yesterday, and she is almost 7 years old! (She was looking out the window as if trying to figure out what those tiny white things were, flying around outside!!) I think you will be quite safe from the snow here, Annie!!!!

Uh oh - now you've done it! Tyke now has a taste of fun in the snow. She'll be begging you to take her on vacation to snow country every winter.

THAT won't be a problem!!! As much as we go to Asheville and the surrounding mountains, hopefully we'll be able to let Tyke see some real snow! We were hoping for snow just before Christmas when we went to the Biltmore, but no such luck! I know we'll hit it right soon, and Tyke will be a real snow bunny !!!

Come on up here to Canada. I can't keep Layla out of the snow. She runs through the snow drifts over her head and loves burying herself in them. The first snowfall this year I woke up to Layla loudly barking at the door at 6:30am to get out. She was so excited. Tyke would have a blast!!
